West Palm Beach, FL (February 19, 2012) – They’re off and running at the Palm Beach Kennel Club!
The first of 12 gold ring poker tournaments began with a record-shattering prize pool. The $1,250,345 purse for Event #1 is the largest prize pool in WSOP Circuit history -- for a non-Main Event Championship tournament.
The attendance figure for the opener was just as impressive, as 2,607 entrants jammed into the Palm Beach Kennel Club for the $500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament. The tournament is currently being played over five consecutive days. Final table action is expected to begin on Monday afternoon.
Poker was not the only attraction during a busy holiday weekend in West Palm Beach. The daily dog racing program included a special “World Series of Poker Circuit Kick-Off Feature Race,” with eight greyhounds chasing a healthy side pot.
The special dog race was won by a greyhound named “Milam Pierce,” from the Gilster Kennel.
