JOHN MONNETTE WINS WSOP EVENT 23, NOVEMBER NINER ERIC BUCHMAN FINISHES SECOND
Veteran poker player John Monnette has scored his largest cash to date, taking down WSOP Event #23, the $2,500 buy-in Eight-Game Mix event.
 
Monnette won $278,144 and his very first WSOP gold bracelet.
 
The 29-year-old poker pro from Palmdale, California bested former bracelet winner Eric Buchman heads up for the title.
 
This was Monnette's seventh year competing in the World Series of Poker and his sixth year to cash.  In 2009, he finished runner-up in a 2-7 Lowball event, but today he was able to finally breakthrough.
