Heads-Up: Teddy "Iceman" Monroe

While Teddy "Iceman" Munroe isn't making his Main Event debut this year until Sunday on Day 1d, WorldSeriesofPoker.com caught up with him as he hovered around the outside of Day 1a and prepared to sit down for one of the bigger cash games that was starting up inside the Amazon Room. The Iceman actually held up his cash game to come over and talk as the other players, dealer and floor man all stood patiently waiting for "Big Teddy" to handle his business.
WSOP.com: OK "Iceman," we need an over/under on how many players you're going to "ice" this year.
ICEMAN: Over/under? Give me a number. I'll tell ya.

WSOP.com: OK ... how about 150.
ICEMAN: 150? Man, I''m gonna knock out 200. Yeah, 200. I mean, against the "Iceman," they got to go.
WSOP.com: Good deal. And coming into this year's Main Event after your deep run last year, what's different for you? What have you learned from last year that you'll carry into this year?
ICEMAN: Well, the biggest difference is that I'm healthy this year. I was sick last year; played most of the tournament under the weather. I put myself in bad situations feeling like that because I was exhausted, man. Just tired and beat. I made one bad play because I was tired and that was it. But not this year. I feel good, my mind is focused and you can bet on this: The Iceman won't make a bad move at any point.

ICEMAN: Yeah, maybe just with him. You know we're best friends, so it'll be friendly; nothing serious. (Munroe then leaned in, let out a laugh and whispered, "Maybe like $5,000 with Phil, something fun for me and him, but don't tell anyone. That's on the down low.")

ICEMAN: Nah, man. We're just there for each other. If he needs anything from me, I give it, and if I need anything from him, he's there.
WSOP.com: I see the headphones up high on the head. What's at the top of your play list right now? If I was to put 'em on, what would the first few songs be?
ICEMAN: Nothing, man. Nothing. I don't have any music going to these things and they never leave high on my head. It's my good luck charm, baby.
WSOP.com: When do you open up the Main Event?
ICEMAN: I play Sunday. See, lemme show you: (The Iceman pulls out his registration card from his pocket) Right here, Sunday, Table 11, Seat 1. And lookie here, I bought it just now and paid $10,000 cash, baby.
WSOP.com: One last thing before we let you go: All that jewelry you got on, over/under on how much all that's worth (pointing to his silver bracelet, oversized watch and massive silver and diamond-encrusted chain around his neck).
ICEMAN: Once again, I gotta ask you to gimme a number; a figure.
WSOP.com: OK, fair enough. Hmm.... let's say $75,000.
ICEMAN: (Laughs) Man ... over, man. Over.

WSOP.com: The watch? Is that what puts you over?
ICEMAN: The watch itself is right at $75,000. Now the chain? Man, that's $150,000, so like I said, definitely over.
