WSOP EUROPE HISTORY: DANIEL NEGREANU WINS BRACELET #6 AND WSOP POY IN FRANCE

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 18, 2026) - Few poker players in history can rival the success and prominence of Poker Hall of Fame Inductee Daniel Negreanu. Arriving on poker’s highest stage in 1998, winning his first WSOP bracelet in a $2,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em Event, Kid Poker has gone on to win a total of seven WSOP bracelets, win the coveted WSOP Poker Players Championship in 2024, and amass over $25 million in WSOP tournament winnings, the most ever by any poker player. One of the most famous poker players alive, Negreanu is also known for his daily vlogs during the WSOP, where he uploads every day of the series, detailing his journey through poker’s largest annual event. Expanding his daily vlogs to include WSOP Paradise, the official Daniel Negreanu YouTube channel sits just below 1 million YouTube subscribers, reflecting his presence and high standing in poker. Singling out one of many poker accolades, with WSOP Europe 2026 less than two weeks away, we take a look back at not only Negreanu’s WSOP bracelet victory at WSOP Europe in 2013, but also how he locked up the WSOP Player of the Year race in style. Daniel Negreanu competes for a WSOP bracelet and POY at WSOP Europe 2013 The stakes are rarely higher than when a WSOP bracelet is on the line, but Daniel Negreanu was competing for more than just WSOP gold at WSOP Europe 2013 at the Casino Barriere in France. Coming off of his victory in the WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event in Melbourne, Australia, Negreanu was in a dead heat for his second WSOP Player of the Year title, being only a few points behind 2013 Poker Players Championship winner Matthew Ashton.  Having been the first player to win WSOP Player of the Year during its inception in 2004, Negreanu had an opportunity to become the first two-time winner of the award if he could run deep enough in the No-Limit Hold’em High Roller at WSOP Europe 2013. Needing to only make the final table to secure his second WSOP Player of the Year title, late into the tournament, Negreanu had to take his small chip stack and play past the likes of Erik Seidel, David Peters, Jason Koon, and Scott Seiver. Utilizing his years of experience crushing at the poker table, Negreanu barely made it to the final table with the shortest chip stack. While he had already locked up 2013 WSOP Player of the Year, Negreanu was not yet done adding to his long list of WSOP accolades. Following the elimination of Erik Seidel in 8th place, Negreanu’s ace-king offsuit would win a flip against David Peters’ pocket tens, rewarding him with a much-needed double up. Now having some chips to play with, Negreanu held steady as, one by one, his fellow final tablers exited the tournament, setting up a heads-up match with Brazilian Nicolau Villa-Lobos. Although Negreanu would lose his 2-to-1 chip lead midway through the heads-up match, the Canadian would prove too much for Villa-Lobos, ultimately winning the High Roller and his sixth WSOP bracelet. Securing his 6th WSOP bracelet and becoming the first poker player to win WSOP Player of the Year twice, Negreanu produced one of the most historic WSOP Europe moments.
