WSOP CIRCUIT RETURNS TO POPULAR HARRAH'S CHEROKEE VENUE

Ring-event action begins on Thursday in the third and final WSOP Circuit visit of the 2017-18 season to Harrah's Cherokee, in North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains

Cherokee, NC (April 10, 2018) -- The 2017-18 World Series of Poker Circuit returns this week to one of the Circuit's most popular venues, Harrah's Cherokee Hotel and Casino in picturesque Cherokee, North Carolina. It's the third visit to Cherokee during the 2017-18 season, following earlier series visits last August and November. This time around, ring-event play begins on Thursday, April 12th and runs through the conclusion of the stop's main event on Monday, April 23rd.

Only two more Circuit stops will remain when this 24th of 26 2017-18 Circuit series is complete. Horseshoe Baltimore will host the 25th series of the season, April 26th through May 7th, and the Circuit tour wraps its 2017-18 run with a May 10th through May 21st trip to Harrah's New Orleans.

Here in Cherokee, 12 more coveted gold rings will be awarded over the series' 12 days of play. Action begins in the first two ring events at 11 am on Thursday in Event #1, $365 No-Limit Hold'em (1-Day). At 4 pm that afternoon, players in the first of four starting flights in Event #2, $365 No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry, will take their seats.

The stop's premier tourney, Event #10, $1,675 Main Event, begins with the first of its two starting flights at 11 am on Friday, April 20th. Last year's springtime Circuit visit to Cherokee saw Raleigh, NC's Vanessa Truong top a massive 1,164-entrant field to win $318,646.

The winner of the Harrah's Cherokee Main Event and the stop's Casino Champion (which goes to the player earning the most series points in Cherokee) will each earn a seat to the 2018 Global Casino Championship. That championship offers a minimum $1 million prizepool, plus the coveted Championship gold bracelet.

As with other Circuit stops, participating players earn points based on cashing in that stop's points-eligible events. More information on the Global Casino Championship leaderboard can be found on WSOP.com.

Here's the schedule for all ring-awarding events for Harrah's Cherokee. Numbered events shown in boldface are part of the Casino Championship race. Click here for a complete schedule, including satellites and nightly events.

If you've ever watched the World Series of Poker and thought that could be me, you're not alone. Since 1970, the WSOP has been the place where that dream lives. Most people know the summer series in Las Vegas, where the $10,000 Main Event turns ordinary players into legends. But the WSOP calendar has grown well beyond that. WSOP Europe and WSOP Paradise now bring bracelet competition to international destinations, and dozens of Circuit events run year-round for players who want serious competition closer to home. Whether you're grinding a Circuit stop or taking your shot at the Main Event, the hardware means something. Winning a gold bracelet or Circuit ring is more than just a trophy. It's a permanent record that you are a champion. For players in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, WSOP Online has become something worth paying attention to. It's the only platform in the US where you can win a poker tournament for official WSOP gold bracelets without leaving home! The WSOP also offers deposit limits and self-exclusion tools because the best poker rooms have always known that keeping poker players healthy keeps the game healthy. From your first Circuit event to a final table in Las Vegas, WSOP is still where you go to prove something.
