NEXT UP ON THE CIRCUIT: CHEROKEE ROUND THREE
The WSOP Circuit will set up shop in Cherokee, North Carolina for the third time this tour.
Cherokee, N.C. (April 10, 2017) -- The 2016/2017 World Series of Poker Circuit tour is winding down, as it has successfully completed 19 of 22 stops with the Horseshoe Council Bluffs stop in Iowa coming to a conclusion this Monday afternoon. The 20th stop on the Circuit schedule will be held at Harrah's Cherokee in western North Carolina. This will be the third, and final, WSOP Circuit visit to Harrah's Cherokee during this season, after being the very first 2016/17 stop back in August.
The 12-event series will commence on Wednesday, April 12th with two separate starting flights for the multi-flight re-entry tournament. All in all, Event #1: $365 No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry will encompass five different starting flights throughout the course of three days. Along with unlimited re-entry, this opening tournament also features a $500,000 guaranteed prizepool. The massive re-entry event at Harrah's Cherokee tends to bring out an average of over 2,000 entires. There will be eleven other gold ring events, including the $1,675 Main Event that begins Friday, April 21st. The Main Event will conclude Monday, April 24th, finishing off the Harrah's Cherokee Circuit.
The most recent stop at Harrah's Cherokee, in December, saw Brad Albrinck outlast a field of 968 entrants to take down the Circuit Main Event, claiming his second WSOP gold ring, and a top-prize of $275,877.
The winner of the Main Event and the Casino Champion race will each earn a seat to the 2017 Global Casino Championship. There they will compete for a minimum $1 million prizepool, as well as a gold bracelet. To become the Casino Champion a player must earn the most points at a given Circuit stop. Players earn points based on how well they finish in a tournament. More information on the Global Casino Championship leaderboard can be found on WSOP.com.
