JOHN NGUYEN LEADS HARRAH'S TUNICA CIRCUIT MAIN EVENT FINAL TABLE
TUNICA, MS – Day two of the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Tunica came to an end Monday. John Nguyen, a poker pro from Fairview Heights, IL will begin the final table as the chip leader.
The three-day, $1,600 buy-in No Limit Hold’em championship event began Sunday morning with 480 players taking a shot at their share of the nearly $700,000 prize pool. Among the notables in the event were Tommy Vedes, Dwyte Pilgrim, Chris Tryba, Doug “Rico” Carli, Mark “Pegasus” Smith and Maurice Hawkins. 111 players made it through day one and returned Monday to play down to the final nine
Vedes did well to make it into day two near the top of the leader board, but after a bad run of cards, was eliminated just short of the money bubble.
Previous event ring winners, Jessie Bryant and Tripp Kirk were also eliminated on day two, putting them out of contention to earn enough points to win the Casino Championship here at Tunica.
The last remaining threat to points leader Kyle Cartwright’s automatic seat to the WSOPC million-dollar freeroll National Championship was La Sengphet.
In the final hand of the night, Jessie White moved all-in with 
and after much thought, Sengphet made the call, tabling 
. Sengphet was far ahead of her opponent, but a heartbreaking king on the flop put her behind where she stayed through the river and was eliminated in tenth place.
With Sengphet’s elimination, Cartwright is a virtual lock to be the Tunica Casino champion and play in the WSOPC National championship at Caesars Palace in May.
Kurt Jewell, the WSOPC Midwest Regional Champion, enters the final table atop of the leader board with 1.8 million while the last woman standing, Mary Harden, sits at 1.28 million.
Play will resume promptly at 12:00 pm CST Tuesday with the final nine playing for $148,612 first place prize money, the diamond-encrusted WSOP Circuit Main Event Championship ring and an automatic seat into the WSOPC National Championship.

The eighth of the 2010/2011 WSOPC season, the Circuit Events at Harrah’s Tunica have been an overall success.
Much of this year’s success at Tunica and at the previous seven events so far this season can be attributed to the revamped format of the WSOPC, which includes standardized, optimized structures, the introduction of four, televised regional championships and the season-ending, WSOPC national championship. This year’s opening event at Harrah’s Tunica attracted 1,032 players, the second highest Circuit Event attendance ever for the casino resort.
