Ian O'Hara Wins Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship ($1,189,408)

Out of the 9,735 entries recorded in Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship, only one player remains after Day 4 at the Horseshoe Event Center at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

That player is none other than Ian O’Hara, who captured the first-place prize of $1,189,408 and his first-ever WSOP bracelet, after previously finishing second and third in WSOP events in 2021 and 2019.

Already among the chip leaders during Day 3, O’Hara remained near the top of the counts and ultimately overcame Bahar Musa in a shorter-than-expected heads-up match thanks to a massive double up.

Large chip leader for most of the final table, Musa takes home $792,714 for his runner-up finish.

Ian O'Hara opened with a raise, and Bahar Musa responded with a three-bet. O'Hara then slid a stack of 1-million chips forward, and Musa called all in for a total of around 20,000,000.

Musa had the dominating hand but O'Hara found a board 10♠3♠9♣9♥4♥ to claim the pot with two pair and bust Musa at the second place of the podium.

Massive Double Up for O'Hara

Bahar Musa limped from the button then called after Ian O'Hara in the big blind raised to 4,000,000.

O'Hara continued for 3,500,000 on a flop of 9♣Q♦3♠, but Musa raised to 10,000,000. O'Hara called and checked the 8♠ turn.

Musa seized this opportunity to bet 16,000,000. After a few seconds, O'Hara raised all-in for 52,900,000. Musa eventually made the call.

Musa called with top pair but O'Hara flopped two pair. He even hit a full house with the Q♠ river to secure a big double up.

O'Hara Wins Then Gives Back

After the first two pots remained pretty small and were won by Ian O'Hara, O'Hara limped from the button. Bahar Musa in the big blind raised to 4,000,000 and O'Hara called.

The dealer fanned a flop of 8♦9♦7♦ and Musa continued for 2,500,000. O'Hara quickly called.

Both players checked the 10♣ turn leading to the 2♠ river where Musa bet 5,000,000. O'Hara folded.

Heads-up Play Begins

The two players are now back in their seat and the heads-up battle for the gold bracelet is now underway.

Jacopo Achille Eliminated in 3rd Place ($589,980)

Bahar Musa raised to 2,000,000 on the button and Jacopo Achille shoved in the small blind for 12,900,000. Ian O'Hara folded and Musa announced the call.

Achile was ahead and had good hopes for a double-up, but the board 4♣5♠8♠3♠J♦ gave a pair of fives to Musa to bust him in the third place of the podium.

A Massive Pot with Trips for O'Hara

Ian O'Hara opened from the button and faced Jacopo Achille who defended from the big blind.

O'Hara continued for 1,000,000 on the 7♦2♥2♠ flop, then fired a second barrel of 2,500,000 on the J♣ turn. Achille check-called both times.

Achille checked the 4♠ turn and O'Hara bet a massive 14,000,000.

Facing a very tough decision, Achille went into the tank for three minutes and eventually made the call. However his cards went into the muck when O'Hara flipped over A♦2♦ for trips.

O'Hara Good at Showdown

Ian O'Hara limped from the small blind so Bahar Musa in the big blind only had to check his option to discover a flop of J♦10♥A♦.

Both of them checked this flop and the 7♠ turn, and O'Hara checked again the K♥river.

Musa bet 1,500,000 and was called by O'Hara with J♣8♣. Musa only had 10♣6♣ so the pot was for O'Hara.

Small Pot for Musa

Ian O'Hara completed his small blind and called a raise from Bahar Musa for 3,500,000.

On the 5♦10♦K♦ flop, O'Hara check-called for 2,000,000.

Both checked on the 9♠ turn and the 2♦ hit the river. This time O'Hara check-folded after Musa sent 10,000,000 in the pot.

Andrew Robinson Eliminated in 4th Place ($442,604)

Bahar Musa raised to 2,000,000 from the cutoff and saw Andrew Robinson in the small blind three-bet to 7,500,000. Musa went into the tank and four-bet to 12,000,000. Robinson snap-called with the 2,000,000 he had left.

Robinson was in the lead, but Musa hit the best flush draw thanks to a flop of 6♥3♥5♥. The 7♥ turn completed the flush, so Robinson didn't need to see the 2♦ river to know that he was eliminated.

Bogdan Munteanu Eliminated in 5th Place ($334,718)

In a blind versus blind battle, Bogdan Munteanu completed and Bahar Musa raised it to 3,000,000. Munteanu replied by shoving for a stack of 16,200,000 and Musa quickly called:

Musa was ahead, and improved into a pair of aces on the board 8♣7♠8♠A♦J♥ to send Munteanu to the payout desk.

Simon Wilson Eliminated in 6th Place ($255,186)

Simon Wilson raised to 4,000,000 from the button. Ian O'Hara in the big blind moved all in and Wilson snap-called with the last blue chip worth 100,000 he had left.

Despite having a pretty bad hand, Wilson was in the lead. But a board of K♠7♠3♣3♥4♠ dashed his hopes, giving two pair to O'Hara and sending Wilson to the rail.

Minimum Value for Robinson

Ian O'Hara opened to 1,600,000 from under the gun and faced Andrew Robinson who defended from the big blind.

Both of them checked all the way through a board of 8♥4♣7♥9♠K♣, so Robinson flipped over his pair with K♥Q♣ and scooped the pot.

O'Hara Adds to His Stack

Ian O'Hara raised to 1,600,000 on the button and received a call from Bahar Musa in the big blind to go see a flop 3♣Q♣4♣. Musa check-called O'Hara for 1,000,000.

The duo checked on the 6♥ turn and 8♣ river and Musa tabled A♠10♠ but the pot was shipped to O'Hara who held K♥Q♥ for a pair of queens.

Musa Four-Bets All-In

Andrew Robinson opened to 1,800,000 from under the gun and Ian O'Harato his left three-bet to 3,200,000.

Bahar Musa on the button went deep into the tank and eventually moved all-in for 34,400,000. Robinson quickly folded, followed by O'Hara.
