Brett Lim Wins First Bracelet in Event #48: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em Championship ($653,839)

Nearly seven hours after Event #48: $1,000 Senior's No-Limit Hold’em Championship brought back as many hopefuls to the Horseshoe Event Center, the 2025 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas has crowned another winner. Brett Lim started the final day second in chips and overcame multiple obstacles to defeat Elan Lepovic in heads-up with both players earning the lion's share of the $6,666,000 prize pool in a gargantuan field of 7,575 entries.

During the tense heads-up duel which lasted nearly two and a half hours, Lim became visibly frustrated and even suggested to his family on the rail to move to a different state where gambling was illegal. He would later change his sunglasses because the lights of the live stream table were starting to bother him and Lim jokingly said "now I gonna win" with a smirk on the face.

Shortly thereafter, he doubled into a commanding lead and closed out the victory moments later for his first WSOP gold bracelet and top prize of $653,839.

Lim Goes All-In

After Brett Lim limped from the button, Elan Lepovic raised to 6,000,000 from the big blind.

Lim called and the dealer spread a flop of K♥7♦7♣, where Lepovic continued for 5,000,000. Lim called again.

On the 10♦turn, Lepovic fired a second barrel of 15,000,000, but Lim responded by moving all in for 41,100,000 with K♦3♦, holding two pair and the second-nut flush draw. Lepovic went deep into the tank but eventually folded his own flush draw with 9♦2♦.

Lim Stops the Bleeding For Now

Brett Lim opened to 3,800,000 with the A♥J♦
and was called by Elan Lepovic with the K♦Q♠. They checked the 9♥8♣6♦flop to the 6♥turn, on which Lim bet 3,500,000. Lepovic check-called and then checked the J♣

Lim then bet 9,000,000 and finally stopped the bleeding as of late, though, both players casually laughed before Lim was even done with stacking the chips.

"Let's move to Tennessee, gambling is illegal over there," Lim said as he turned around to his family on the rail.

Lepovic Comes From Behind to Double Through Boloqui

First to act, Elan Lepovic moved all in for 16,300,000 early into the new level and Jose Boloqui, in the small blind, asked for an exact count before he carefully checked his stack and declared "I call".

Elan Lepovic: K♠Q♣ All in
Jose Boloqui: A♠Q♦

Lepovic needed help to survive and used his one time while three of the four finalists were on their feet already.

The K♥J♣6♦flop propelled Lepovic into the lead, which he retained throughout the 8♥ turn and 2♦river to swap positions with Boloqui.

Lim Gets Boloqui To Fold the Superior Hand

The action folded to Jose Boloqui in the small blind and he raised to 2,500,000 with the J♠J♥, earning a call from Brett Lim with the Q♠9♦. The 9♣8♦5♦flop saw Boloqui with a check and Lim now bet 3,000,000. Without any hesitation whatsoever, Boloqui check-raised to 8,500,000 and Lim tossed in the extra chips for the call.

After the A♠turn, Boloqui checked the second street in a row and Lim pondered about his next move, glancing several times at the board and his opponent. Lim then bet 9,000,000 and Boloqui instantly grabbed into possible calling chips while blowing out some air. However, he went deep into the tank and even tried to start some table chat without getting any reply or reaction of Lim staring away from him.

"Sorry guys, I have a big hand," Boloqui apologised to the table after all his previous questions to Lim were left unanswered. He folded shortly after and Lim raked in the pot to extend his lead.

"Good fold?" Boloqui asked and Lim replied "I don't know, for you or for me? I might still hit the winning hand," the reply came thereafter.

Lepovic in the Danger Zone

Jose Boloqui raised top 3,000,000 on the button with the A♠4♥and Brett Lim folded in the big blind. Elan Lepovic let go of the Q♣6♥ in the big blind and dropped to six and a half blinds after the hand.

Lepovic then jammed the last 6,400,000 with the K♦5♣ and Dennis Carlson in the big blind asked for a count holding the Q♣2♦. No call followed and Lepovic survived to fight another day.

Very few of the recent hands had even seen the flop with Lepovic as the far shortest stack among the final four.

Boloqui Barrels His Way to a Straight

Jose Boloqui opened to 2,500,000 on the button with the 7♥6♠and was called only by Elan Lepovic in the big blind with the J♥8♦. The flop came J♣10♣9♦ and Lepovic check-called for 3,000,000. That was followed by the 5♠ turn on which Boloqui fired another bet of 4,500,000 when checked to, earning another call from Lepovic.

That led to the 8♥on the river on which Boloqui spiked the bottom end of the straight. Lepovic checked and Boloqui bet 8,400,000 to send Lepovic into the tank with his two pair. While contemplating his next move, Lepovic asked the dealer to spread the pot, and eventually called.

Boloqui showed his straight and then vaulted out of his chair with a loud "vamooo" before stacking up the chips, while Lepovic was left visibly flustered.
