David Shmuel Wins Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

David Shmuel has outlasted a field of 910 entries in Event #4 taking down his first WSOP bracelet and $205,333.

Shmuel Leaves Ford Short

Joe Ford raised on the button, and David Shmuel made the call in the big blind. Shmuel checked the J♠9♠6♦ flop, and Ford fired in a bet.

Shmuel then check-raised, and the call was made. Shmuel led out on the 10♥turn, with Ford announcing a raise. The call was quickly made, and the dealer flipped over the Q♦
river.

Shmuel bet and Ford slid in the call.

"Ace-king," Shmuel said as he showed down A ♠K♠J♥6♠for Broadway. Ford slumped in his chair as he saw the bad news, tabling K♥Q♠8♠7♥for an inferior straight.

"I had the nuts on the turn," explained Ford as Shmuel took a commanding chip lead.

Ford Lands A Blow

David Shmuel raised on the button and Joe Ford called in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 4♣10♦3♠and Ford bet, getting a quick call from Shmuel.

On the turn 5♥, Ford bet a second time and Shmuel called once more with both players checking the river 3♥.

Ford turned over A♦10♣6♦4♠for tens up with a six-low, good for both halves of the pot.

Darren Taylor Eliminated in 3rd Place ($95,253)

David Shmuel raised on the button and Darren Taylor answered with a three-bet from the small blind. Joe Ford got out of the way, and Shmuel four-bet before Taylor committed his remaining chips.

The dealer flipped over the 4♥K♥5♣Q♦2♦board, leaving Shmuel with a wheel to scoop the pot. That saw Taylor make his exit after a third-place run.

Taylor Doubles Through Ford

Darren Taylor raised in the small blind and Joe Ford defended the big blind.

The flop rolled out 10♣9♣6♠ and Taylor bet, earning a quick call from Ford.

On the turn 10♥ Taylor moved all in for 325,000, just under half of a full bet and Ford called.

Taylor's three tens with an ace was good for the double on the river 5♣ and he survived his all in.

Gregory Wood Eliminated in 4th Place ($67,392)

Joe Ford raised in the small blind and in the big blind, Gregory Wood called.

and Ford bet, eliciting a raise from Wood. Ford clicked it back and Wood raised all in for his last chips which Ford called.

Wood was drawing slim, but the turn 3♠ offered him some survival opportunities with a potential low or straight coming home.

Neither hit on the 10♠river and Ford's set of jacks raked in the pot to eliminate Wood in fourth place.

Shmuel Shows a Winner

David Shmuel raised from the small blind and Darren Taylor make the call on his left. Both players checked through the 6♥K♣6♦flop and the dealer flipped over the 10♣ turn.

Shmuel led out with a bet, and Taylor called to see the K♦river. This time, Shmuel slowed down with a check. After a moment, Taylor opted to check back in the big blind.

Shmuel showed down A♣10♥4♣3♥for two pair, earning the pot as Taylor mucked his hand.

Ilia Krupin Eliminated in 5th Place ($48,480)

Joe Ford called in first position which saw Gregory Wood call in the cutoff, and Ilia Krupin checked his option in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 3♦8♣K♠and Krupin bet, getting two calls.

On the turn Q♠, Krupin bet a second time and only Wood called.

Krupin moved all in on the river 7♠ and Wood beat him into the pot with a call.

Wood had rivered the nut flush and held the only low between the two of them, leaving him to rake in the pot while Krupin exited the tournament.

Taylor Halts Krupins Momentum

Ilia Krupin raised from first position and both David Shmuel in the small blind and Darren Taylor in the big blind called.

The flop rolled out J♥4♠4♦and all three of the players in the hand checked.

On the turn K♠, everyone checked over to Krupin who bet and Shmuel quickly folded his hand. Taylor responded by raising and Krupin went into the tank.

After some thought, he whipped his hand into the muck and Taylor retained his chip lead over the final table.

Patrick Stacey Eliminated in 6th Place ($35,471)

Ilia Krupin raised in the cutoff and Patrick Stacey three-bet all in from the small blind which only Krupin called.

The board ran out 6♣6♥5♠A♣7♠
and Krupin's aces up with a king was good for high, while his live deuce was good for low. Krupin raked in the pot to hop back up to above 4 million while Stacey was eliminated from the tournament

Another Quarter For Krupin

Ilia Krupin raised from under the gun and Darren Taylor called in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 4♠10♣8♠ and Taylor checked over to Krupin who bet. In response, Taylor raised and Krupin called.

On the turn 6♠, Taylor bet and Krupin moved all in for 500,000 which Taylor called.

Taylor made the same straight as Krupin on the 7♣river, but Krupin held the second nut-low to take down the majority of the pot.
