TOM SCHNEIDER SWEEPS THE HORSE EVENTS

Since he is a country western singer in addition to a poker pro, it only seems appropriate to declare that Tom Schneider is back in the saddle again.
It is also fitting that his second victory of the summer comes in the HORSE event. If this story sounds familiar, it should. Less than a week ago, Schneider won the $1,500 HORSE event along with $258,000. Now he has swept the HORSE events on the 2013 WSOP schedule, winning the $5,000 HORSE tournament, a fourth gold bracelet, and a $318,955 payday.
Schneider, who won the 2007 WSOP Player of the Year title, is now one of the frontrunners to take that crown this year. He is the first two-time winner of the year and is now less than 20 points away from catching another former WSOP Player of the Year, Daniel Negreanu, who now maintains the lead by only the slimmest of margins.
This second win for Schneider also continues the now 14-year streak of at least one player winning multiple gold bracelets in a single year.
Schneider has posted results consistently since he won two bracelets back in 2007, but this year he has roared back to the center of the poker spotlight beating not one, but two absolutely stacked final tables in a five game rotation that is a true testament to his skills as an all-around poker player.
This $5,000 buy-in HORSE event drew 261 players and generated a $1,226,700 prize pool. The top 32 players in the event earned a payday. Some of the notables who cashed in the event, but came up short of the final table were Eli Elezra (30th), Gus Hansen (28th), Todd Brunson (24th), David Bach (16th), Marcel Luske (13th), and Brett Richey (11th).
Half of the players at this final table had already been at a final table this summer. That brings the total number of players with multiple final tables this summer to 13. Adam Friedman, Chris Klodnicki, and Greg Mueller were all making their second final table showings, along with Schneider. Moreover, the table boasted a collection of eight bracelets and ten figures in tournament earnings, as five of the eight players at the table were bracelet winners.
The final table also featured the man who currently holds the record for most WSOP cashes in a single year, Konstantin Puchkov (8th). It is still relatively early in the summer, but Puchkov might want to watch out for the 17th place finisher in this event, Dan Kelly, who posted his eighth cash of the summer.
