FRANKIE O'DELL WINS THIRD WSOP GOLD BRACELET IN $10K OMAHA EIGHT OR BETTER
June 9, 2019 (Las Vegas) - Frankie O’Dell has won the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Eight or Better Championship for $443,641 and become the 97th player to win at least three World Series of Poker gold bracelets.
O’Dell defeated a field of 183 players over the past three days to one of the first $10K bracelets of the summer.
On his way to winning the tournament, O'Dell, Robert Mizrachi, and Owais Ahmed played for about five hours three-handed.
"It was a war because you have warriors in there. You have one of the Mizrachi f****ing great player brothers, then you got one of the guys who knows almost everything on Stud and Omaha Hi-Lo. Then you have me, old school poker," O'Dell said.
O'Dell has won all three of his bracelets in limit Omaha. He made it clear that he is very confident in his ability to play tournament Omaha Hi-Lo.
"Well if you don't know, there's only one person who has three limit Omaha eight bracelets and you're talking to him. So until someone passes me or catches me, I'm not going to say nothing. I'm just going to leave it right there."
This bracelet comes twelve years after his second when he won the $2,000 Omaha Eight or Better in 2007. He has ome close a few times since then with two fifth place finishes (2013, 2018) and a runner-up finish in the $1,500 Dealer's Choice in 2018. O'Dell lost heads up to Jeremy Harkin.
"I thought about it the whole year. I came back this year and my mentality was to do better. I had an opportunity here today, I had chips, we had the best Omaha players in the world in this tournament and I ended up on top. So that was my motivation."
He passed his bracelet to his son Gabriel and he said that he wants to dedicate the victory to his new grandson Luciano.
"I love you guys with all my heart," O'Dell said to his daughter Victoria and her son Luciano.
O'Dell now has won three bracelets from six final tables. He says he plays a lot of hands and he feels like he's really done a lot to earn this victory today.
"It feels good when you put in hard work and it pays off."
