July 1, 2019 - (Las Vegas) - Nicholas “Illari” Baris is the winner of Event #68 the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Online bracelet event. The event drew 1,187 players and a prizepool of $1,662,500. Baris took home a nice payday of $303,738.75 and the World Series of Poker gold bracelet. This was his fifth WSOP cash and first final table.
The final table started around 1:30 a.m. The most well known player at the final table was Chris “Camdi” Ferguson entering the final table third in chips. With Tara “BertPerton” Cain leading the final table with a two to one chip lead over the next closest player.
Cain lost a little during the early action at the final table, but was still holding a two to one lead. Nicholas “Illari” Baris found a double quickly and it took some time for the final table to lose it’s first player.
Cain was responsible for the first elimination. She knocked out Antonio “Karma007” Guerrero in ninth place with a better ace. Guerrero took home $22,444 for his finish. This is Guerrero’s third WSOP cash.
Dave “Youngpitts” Baker (aka Bakes) knocked out Ryan “PlzCumAgain” Jones with pocket eights against the fours of Jones. Baker shoved and Jones called from the small blind for less. Jones won $29,260 for his finish. Jones previous best finish was eighth in an online event from 2017.
With seven players left, Cain was still in the lead with Jack “Mr.Yang” Maskill in second place. Baker was in third with six-time WSOP bracelet winner Ferguson in fourth position.
Cain’s best finish in a WSOP event was also in 2017 in the Online $3,333 High Roller. Coming into today, Cain had $239,530 in career WSOP winnings. During seven-handed play she took an even bigger lead.
Then it was Ferguson hitting the rail, shoving from the small blind into the pocket queens of William “TheBurrSir” Lamb Harding. Ferguson was eliminated in seventh place and won $38,736 -- making his second final table this summer.
Cain continued to gain traction, three-bet shoving over multiple opens while the remaining players seemed to be looking to ladder up.
Maskill found himself as the short stack with six remaining players. He shoved into the small blind of Baris and found himself in an uphill battle. He couldn’t catch up and was eliminated in sixth place, taking home $51,704 for his finish.
Baker found a double shortly after through Lamb Harding, finding a pair on the flop. As the final table continued, Baker moved into second place.
Jason “LuckDuck” Lawhun was eliminated in fifth place. He flopped a set against Cain’s flush and that spelled the end for Lawhun as Cain continued to cruise. Lawhun won $69,991.
The eliminations kept coming quickly as Baker was eliminated next in fourth place. He won $96,093. Then Cain sent another to the rail, Lamb Harding was another of Cain’s victims and she entered heads up play with a large chip lead. Lamb Harding took home $133,333.
Despite running over most of the final table, all it took was a well-timed double up for Baris to turn the tables and, shortly after the double, Baris claimed the title and the $303,739 first prize.
