Friday at Harrah's Cherokee saw Sal DiCarlo (pictured) win Event #9 for nearly $40k and his first gold ring.

Cherokee, N.C. (April 23, 2016) – Sal DiCarlo was Friday's gold ring winner at Harrah's Cherokee. He defeated a 363 player field in Event #9 - $580 No-Limit Hold'em to win his first WSOP Circuit gold ring and $39,938. DiCarlo had one runner-up finish and two third place finishes coming into the tournament. According to DiCarlo, the win is a monkey off of his back.

Friday was the start of the $1 million guaranteed Main Event. Flight A of the Main Event drew 405 players and had 74 advance to Day 2. Flight A's chip leader was Seville Hale. Saturday is Flight B and it begins at 11 a.m. Players are allowed one re-entry.

There is one more gold ring event starting Saturday and that is Event #11 - $365 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo. It is a one-day event with a $50,000 guaranteed prizepool. The turbo starts at 4 p.m. and registration will remain open until the start of Level 9. More on Saturday's gold ring events can be found below.

  • Registration remains open until the start of Level 13
  • Players are allowed one re-entry per starting flight
  • Players start with 20,000 tournament chips
  • Blinds begin at 25/50
  • Levels 1-15 are 40 minutes long and all remaining levels are 60 minutes long
  • Day 1 is scheduled to play 15 levels
  • There will be a one hour dinner break after Level 9 (5:30 p.m.)
  • Day 2 begins Sunday at 12 p.m.
  • $1,000,000 guaranteed prizepool
  • Flight A Chip Counts

4 p.m. - Event #11 - $365 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo ($50,000 Guarantee)

  • Registration remains open until the start of Level 9
  • Re-entry is not allowed
  • Players start with 10,000 tournament chips
  • Blinds begin at 25/50
  • All levels are 20 minutes long
  • There will be a 30 minutes dinner break after Level18
  • This is a one-day event
