Shaun Deeb Eliminated in 2nd Place ($154,906)

--

Shaun Deeb moved all in for 8,400,000 and after a few seconds of deliberation, Zdenek Zizka called.

Shaun Deeb: K♠3♥ All in
Zdenek Zizka: 2♠2♦

Zizka had a chance to clinch the bracelet and just needed to win a flip in order to do so.

The flop of J♦9♣8♥ kept the deuces of Zizka in the lead, and the 6♦ turn put him one step closer to victory. Deeb needed a king or a three to keep the battle going, but the 8♣ river wasn't what he needed, which meant he had to settle for second.

Deeb Down, But Not Out

--

Zdenek Zizka opened to 2,000,000 and Shaun Deeb shoved. Zizka quickly called for his stack of 15,700,000.

Zdenek Zizka: 5♣4♣ All in
Shaun Deeb: 10♣10♠

"We need a lot of help," said Deeb to his rail.

He needed even more help after the Q♠J♠8♠ flop gave Zizka a straight flush draw. The K♣8♥ runout changed nothing, and Deeb was down to five big blinds.

"Five big blinds, that's my specialty stack!" Deeb said confidently.

That confidence seemed to work as in the next hand, Deeb shoved and Zizka called.

Shaun Deeb: K♠J♥ All in
Zdenek Zizka: J♠7♣

Deeb had the best of it and his king-high held up on the 5♦5♣6♥3♣8♠ runout, to get him back in contention.

The board ran out 8♦J♦4♦10♥K♦ for Deeb to hit the flush on the river to double up with.

Deeb Makes a Big Fold

--

Zdenek Zizka limped in and Shaun Deeb checked his option.

On the monotone K♦2♦8♦ flop, Deeb check-called a bet of 800,000 from Zizka to the K♠ turn, where he again went into check-call mode when Zizka fired 2,400,000.

The river brought a J♥ and after Deeb checked, Zizka announced a bet of 12,000,000, leaving himself around 1,500,000 behind.

"Why are you afraid to put all the chips in the pot? That must mean you don't have it, right?" asked Deeb.

Deeb was two minutes into the the tank and Zizka hadn't moved a muscle. "You have such a skill edge over me, you're trying to 2x pot and get me to fold a king, do you even know I have a king?" added Deeb.

The rail thought Deeb was slow-rolling, but he flashed them a king to show that he wasn't. Eventually, Deeb folded and said he mucked king-five, and Zizka returned his cards to the dealer face down.

Deeb's Turn to Double Up

--

After a few shoves back and forth, Shaun Deeb called on the button and Zdenek Zizka shoved with the bigger stack. Deeb snap-called for the 10,500,000 he had in front of him.

Shaun Deeb: A♠A♣ All in
Zdenek Zizka: 10♥9♥

Deeb walked to his rail while the 9♠6♠K♦ came out on the flop.

The turn was the K♣ which still kept Deeb in the lead for the 4♦ to seal to deal for Deeb's double-up with the pocket rockets.

@ WSOP: would be nice to be able to favorite certain events (would stay at the top of the events page) that we want to track instead of having to go and find them each and every time. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Zizka Doubles Up

--

Zdenek Zizka made it 1,600,000 to go and Shaun Deeb shoved. Zizka had 13,100,000 total and needed around 10 seconds before he called.

Zdenek Zizka: K♣Q♣ All in
Shaun Deeb: K♠J♣

Zizka had the best of it, but bracelet number eight was in sight for Deeb and his rail were screaming for a jack.

However, the 4♣3♦5♦5♠Q♦ runout was of no use, and Zizka doubled up.

"It's Going to Happen Eventually"

--

Zdenek Zizka raised to 1,600,000 from the button, and Shaun Deeb defended.

The flop came 10♠3♥7♦, Deeb check-raised Zizka's continuation-bet of 1,200,000 to 3,300,000 and was called.

The 6♥ on the turn made Deeb think for a bit before he shoved for 12,200,000. Zizka looked down at his cards again, considered the options, and then folded.

"It's going to happen eventually," Deeb commented for Zizka to respond with a smile and nod.

Deeb Shows the Bluff

--

Shaun Deeb limped in and Zdenek Zizka made it 2,100,000. Deeb called.

The flop came 2♠Q♣6♥ and Zizka made a continuation-bet of 1,200,000, which Deeb called to see the 3♣ turn. Zizka slowed down with a check, Deeb bet 2,100,000, and Zizka called.

An 8♣ dropped on the river and after Zizka checked, Deeb shoved for 6,500,000. Zizka went into the tank and even took a few gulps of water while contemplating the decision. After around two minutes, Zizka decided to let it go.

Deeb then showed a bluff with J♠10♣ as he raked in the pot.

"That's one for the good guys! Let's go Deeb!" shouted one of the rail.

A Bit More for Deeb

--

Shaun Deeb limped in on the button, and Zdenek Zizka checked. They both checked through the 2♠Q♦10♠ flop and the A♠ on the turn to the K♦ on the river. Zdenek Zizka bet 600,000 for Deeb to respond with a raise to 1,900,000. Zizka considered it for a bit but folded.

Two hands later, Deeb completed on the button again and Zizka checked. The flop came 6♦2♥6♥ for Zizka to check-fold to the 600,000 bet of Deeb.

On the next hand, Zizka raised to 1,200,000 on the button for Deeb to shove for 10,100,000. Zizka folded.

Zizka Flops Two Pair

--

Shaun Deeb limped in and Zdenek Zizka checked his option in the big blind.

On the J♣Q♠8♦ flop, both checked to the 2♣ turn, where Zizka led out for 1,700,000. Deeb called.

A 3♦ filled out the board and Zizka announced a bet of 3,900,000 before sliding in the chips. Deeb exhaled a puff of air and a short while later, dropped in the call.

Zizka quickly tabled J♠8♠ for two pair, and Deeb's hand went into the muck.

A few more pots followed for Zizka as he took the next three down preflop, which left Deeb with 10,000,000 in his stack.

Deeb Back in the Lead

--

Shaun Deeb limped in on the button, and Zdenek Zizka opted to check.

Zizka checked on the K♦5♥9♥ flop for Deeb to continue with a bet of 600,000. Zizka called.

The turn was the 6♥, and Zizka checked again. Deeb fired a bet of 1,700,000 over the line, and Zizka took some time before making the call.

The Q♠ completed the board, and Zizka checked for the final time. Deeb barreled a bet of 4,700,000 into the pot to send Zizka into the tank. He glanced at his cards a few times before opting to fold.

Deeb held up his cards, looked back at the rail to show them, and someone shouted out: "You had the nuts again?!"

Zizka Takes the Chip Lead

--

The first few hands of heads-up play saw Zdenek Zizka take the chip lead.

In the most notable pot, Zizka raised the button and Shaun Deeb called in the big blind.

They went to a flop of 4♣A♥10♦, where Deeb check-called a bet of 600,000.

A 2♠ hit the turn and again Deeb checked, then again Zizka bet. This time it was 2,200,000, which Deeb called.

The J♠ completed the board and Deeb checked for a third time, and Zizka put out the third bullet of 2,700,000. Deeb didn't need to think for too long and after around 20 seconds, he called.

Zizka then flipped A♠9♠ for a pair of aces, and Deeb mucked his hand.
