Michael Lavin Steamrolls the Competition for a Second WSOP Bracelet and $267,373!
One of the most unique events at the 2025 World Series of Poker has come to a close, with New Jersey native Michael Lavin being crowned champion of Event #20: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em SHOOTOUT after three days of competition. Lavin overcame a field of 1,299 entrants inside the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.
Lavin was the last player standing on both of his Day 1 and Day 2 tables, and completed the same feat on the final table as he cruised to victory, earning himself a second WSOP bracelet and his career-high cash of $267,373 from a prize pool of $1,791,646. Lavin takes home his first live bracelet, after winning Event #7: $600 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack at the WSOP.com PA Online Bracelet Events 2021.
Michael Rossitto Eliminated in 2nd Place ($178,240)
After losing a few small pots, Michael Rossitto moved all in on the button for 3,250,000 to put himself at risk and Michael Lavin made the call in the big blind looking to close out the tournament.
Michael Rossitto: A♣3♠ All in Michael Lavin: A♠2♣
The flop came 10♠7♦K♥ with Lavin's rail cheering for a deuce. The turn was just that - the 2♠.
The river landed the 2♦ and Rossitto's impressive tournament run came to an end.
Punnat Punsri Eliminated in 3rd Place ($130,560)
Punnat Punsri raised to 400,000 on the button with and Michael Lavin three-bet to 1,300,000 in the big blind.
The flop came 8♠3♣Q♣ and Lavin bet 750,000. Punsri made the call.
The turn landed the Q♦ and Lavin slowed down with a check. Punsri bet 650,000 and Lavin moved all in to put Punsri at risk who had just over 2,000,000 behind. Punsri made the call.
Punnat Punsri: 9♥8♥ (All in)
Michael Lavin: A♦Q♥
When the cards were tabled, Punsri saw the bad news that he was drawing dead and the meaningless 5♦ rolled off on the river.
Linyang Song Eliminated in 4th Place ($96,710)
Michael Lavin raised to 325,000 in the cutoff and Linyang Song three-bet shoved for 2,220,000 in the big blind to put himself at risk. Lavin snap called.
Linyang Song: Q♦Q♣ (All in)
Michael Lavin: 9♦9♣
The flop came K♦J♣8♥ with Song still out in the lead. That was until the 9♥ landed on the turn with Lavin spiking a two-outer to pull ahead. The river brought the 2♥ and Song was sent to the rail.
Luis Yepez Carmona Eliminated in 5th Place ($72,450)
Michael Lavin raised to 350,000 in the cutoff and Luis Yepez Carmona three-bet shoved for 1,355,000 on the button to put himself at risk. Lavin thought for a moment before flicking in the call.
Luis Yepez Carmona: A♥9♣ (All in)
Michael Lavin: A♣4♦
The flop came 4♠7♦3♦ with Lavin spiking a four to pull ahead in the hand.
The J♣ turn and Q♠ river offered no help to Carmona and his impressive tournament run came to an end.
Jason Wheeler Eliminated in 6th Place ($54,900)
Punnat Punsri, in the hunt for his first bracelet, kept the pressure on as he raised to 240,000 under the gun. Michael Lavin then woke up with a hand on the button, and chose a three-bet sizing of 725,000. Jason Wheeler, fresh off of a double up, then ripped his 2,610,000 into the middle, looking to end the hand with four times what he had just moments ago, however he would have to win a flip against Lavin who made the call.
Jason Wheeler: A♠K♠ (All in)
Michael Lavin J♠J♥
Wheeler hit a monumental 7♠10♣3♠ flop, meaning he was now the favourite to take down the pot. That being said, the 7♣7♥ runout gave Lavin a full house, sending Wheeler home with an over $50,000 score.
Jordan Westmorland Eliminated in 7th Place ($42,080)
Jordan Westmorland raised to 240,000 from under the gun with A♥A♦ and Michael Lavin flatted on the button with 9♠9♣.
The flop came 9♦K♦3♥ and Westmorland began with a check. Lavin bet 250,000 and Westmorland bumped it up to 800,000. Lavin called.
The turn landed the 8♠ and Westmorland fired out a bet of 1,400,000. Lavin made the call.
On the J♠ river, Westmorland thought for a moment before moving all in for 2,200,000 to put himself at risk. Lavin snap called and Westmorland saw the bad news that his aces had been cracked.
Drew Oconnell Eliminated in 8th Place ($32,640)
Two time WSOP bracelet winner Drew Oconnell opened to 240,000 from middle position, and was met with resistance from cutoff Michael Rossitto, who put in a three-bet to 520,000. When action was back onto Oconnell, he was beaten into the pot by Rossitto as he put all of his chips at risk.
Drew Oconnell: A♦J♦ (All in)
Michael Rossitto: A♥A♣
Oconnell found himself completely up against it preflop, and even more so on the 7♣8♠2♥ flop, as he was in need of running jacks or a running straight. The case A♠ was dealt on the turn, meaning the 8♣ on the river made no difference to the outcome of the hand, as Oconnell became second to leave the final table.
Joel Vazquez Eliminated in 9th Place ($25,610)
Punnat Punsri raised his action to 200,000 from under the gun, before being called by Michael Lavin, who was next to act. Action folded all the way around to Joel Vazquez in the big blind. He decided to go all in for just under 25 big blinds. Punsri ended up folding, but Lavin made the call after a short tank.
Joel Vazquez: A♥K♠ (All in )
Michael Lavin: A♠Q♣
Punsri had folded K♣Q♦ meaning Lavin was drawing to even fewer outs, but he did manage to find one on the 9♠Q♠7♣ flop. Vazquez improved to a straight draw on the J♥ turn, however the A♣ river sealed his fate as the first to leave the final table.

Fred Goldberg Eliminated in 10th Place ($20,340)
After having opened to 200,000 from middle position, Fred Goldberg called next to act Punnat Punsri's three-bet to 540,000, and the two went off to a flop of 6♦4♣7♣.
Goldberg checked his action over to Punsri, who placed a continuation-bet of 665,000 into the middle. This bet sent Goldberg deep into the tank, and after around two minutes of tanking, he announced that he was willing to play for it all. Punsri instantly called and smoothly turned his cards face up.
Fred Goldberg: Q♥Q♠ (All in)
Punnat Punsri: K♦K♠
Goldberg begrudgingly accepted his fate as the 9♠ turn and 3♠ river had him just miss out on the streamed final table, which will be shown on PokerGO at 5:00 p.m. local time.
Duff Charette Eliminated in 11th Place ($20,340) via PokerNews
Duff Charette shoved his remaining 12 big blinds into the middle on the button, and saw a reshove from Michael Rossitto in the small blind. Big blind Drew Oconnell got out of the way, meaning showdown was announced and cards were flipped onto their backs.
Duff Charette: Q♥Q♣ (All in)
Michael Rossitto: 10♥10♦
Charette's queens didn't stay in the lead for long, as Rossitto flopped quad tens on a 10♠K♦10♣ board. The only thing that could have saved Charette was the most improbable runout so far, but running queens did not show up as the 2♣ turn and J♦ river spelled the end of his shootout run.
The final ten players are now being redrawn for a ten-handed unofficial final table.
Tian Liu Eliminated in 12th Place ($16,350) via PokerNews
Action folded around to Tian Liu in the small blind to raised to 950,000, leaving himself with just 50,000 behind. Jordan Westmorland moved all in from the big blind to put Liu at risk, who called off the rest of his stack.
Tian Liu: A♦K♣ (All in)
Jordan Westmorland: Q♦10♠
The board ran out 6♥9♠4♥9♦Q♣ with Westmorland spiking a queen on the river to send Liu packing.
