WSOP CIRCUIT KICKS OFF NEW YEAR THURSDAY AT CHOCTAW RESORT
Jan 04 2014 02:08 PM EST

Durant, OK (January 6, 2013) — For the fourth consecutive year, the WSOP Circuit calls Choctaw Resort in Durant, OK home beginning this Thursday and running through January 20. Opening weekend kicks off with a four-start-flight $365 no-limit hold’em re-entry tournament and the series concludes with a $1 million guaranteed Main Event.
Choctaw Resort, located in southern Oklahoma a short drive north of Dallas and Fort Worth, is a perennial attendance powerhouse. Last year’s re-entry tournament drew a stout field of more than 2,200 entrants and boasted a prize pool of more than $1 million. Just a few days later, the Main Event drew 1,140 players, then setting a record as the third largest finale in WSOP Circuit history.
When the dust settled, Jeff Fielder was the player lucky enough to pocket the more-than $300,000 first prize. The victory marked Fielder’s second gold ring and catapulted him toward the $500,000-mark in career WSOP Circuit earnings.
In addition to the series-opening re-entry tournament and the Main Event, this year’s 12-day festival includes a $365 six-handed tournament on January 13 and $580 no-limit hold’em event on January 15. On top of these, a $70 super satellite starts on the eve of the Main Event and features 20 seats guaranteed to the series-ending $1 million guarantee.
Choctaw Resort ring event schedule:
Choctaw Resort began its stint as a stop on the Circuit tour during the 2010/2011 season and has been a staple ever since. The property’s success is due largely in part to its close proximity to the Dallas market and the CenterStage venue, an 800-seat concert hall that transforms into a more-than-100-table poker room during the 12-day series.
The property boasts the newly-constructed Four-Diamond Award winning Choctaw Grand Tower with 330 rooms as well as luxury suites and a full fitness center. Other hotel accommodations include the Choctaw Inn, located adjacent to the tournament floor and the Choctaw Lodge, located a short jaunt from the resort. Complimentary in-room wifi is available for all guests.
More information on lodging and special room rates as well a more comprehensive look at the series’ schedule is available on Choctaw Resort’s website.
Players and fans alike can follow the action from Durant on the WSOP Circuit Blog at blog.wsop.com beginning Thursday. Additionally, all official announcements from the tournament floor will be made from the WSOP’s Twitter account at twitter.com/wsop.
