A Piece of WSOP History, Including the Final Table Itself

XP Events and The World Series of Poker (WSOP) have announced a first-of-its-kind auction for authentic memorabilia from the Final Table of the 2008 WSOP Main Event being held this month in Las Vegas. Auction items include the poker table that will be used by the finalists vying for $32 million in prize money. Other auction items include other authentic items used during the 2008 Main Event and Final Table, including decks of cards, dealer button, table felts, signage and more. The auction will be conducted online at www.WSOPshop.com beginning November 11, 2008 at 9:00 pm ET and the auction will close on November 24, 2008.

“This auction is the ultimate bragging rights for any home game player, to own a piece of the game’s history,,” said Ty Stewart, Director of Marketing & Corporate Alliances for the World Series of Poker, like having a museum in your basement. “This is the first time that the public has had the opportunity to bid on authentic items from the World Series of Poker Main Event, and the centerpiece of the auction will be the Final Table itself. We have very passionate fans and we expect this auction to generate a lot of interest.”

“The Final Table is one of the most highly-anticipated sports events of the year. Fans will be able to log onto the WSOP online store the evening of the ESPN broadcast and begin bidding on memorabilia as well as browse the wide range of other WSOP-branded items available through http://www.wsopshop.com/,” said Alan Fey, president, XP Events.

The players participating in the Final Table of the 2008 World Series of Poker were determined in July when earlier rounds of the tournament were conducted. The finalists will resume play on November 9th and play until two players remain. Those two players will meet on November 10th to determine the champion. The event will be broadcast by ESPN.

The auction will be conducted by XP Events, the World Series of Poker’s retail merchandising operations partner. XP Events recently completed a multi-year agreement to serve as the official branded-merchandise provider for the World Series of Poker, the world’s leading poker brand. XP Events distributes and markets WSOP merchandise across multiple retail touch points, including the www.WSOPshop.com online store.
