Nov 10 2014 07:49 PM EST

The chase for $10 million and poker immortality has begun. Cards flew into the air tonight at the Rio Las Vegas in front a packed gallery of spectators gathered inside the arena known best for magic. The Penn and Teller Theatre will be ground zero for the poker dreams of the nine finalists who make up this year's November Nine, while the rest of the world watches. At 4:32 p.m. WSOP Tournamment Director Jack Effel passed the microphone to defending world champion Ryan Riess, who delivered the most famous words in poker, "Shuffle up and deal." We are in for what's expected to be a long, action-packed night. Broadcast for American viewers will begin on ESPN2 at 5 pm PST, and will run until we are down to the final two players. That's expected to be several hours from now. The championship concludes with heads-up play on Tuesday night.
