MARCO JOHNSON GETS FIRST BRACELET IN $2,500 SIX-HANDED LIMIT HOLD'EM

Marco Johnson's 2013 World Series of Poker was a mega success regardless of what happened in Event 48, a $2,500 Six-Handed Limit Hold'em event. He laid claim to five cashes and more than $200,000 in earnings, but somehow, that wasn't enough.
Johnson's runner-up finish in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low tournament just a few days ago marked his third time to finish second in a WSOP event and only fueled his desire to win a WSOP bracelet.
Late Friday night, when he got heads-up for the second time this year in the same tournament he finished runner-up in in 2012, he refused to go home without gold. Johnson handily bested Jeff Thompson, finally getting his much-deserved bracelet and pocketing $206,796 in the process.
Johnson is a 27-year-old poker professional from Walnut Creek, Calif.
The $2,500 Six-Handed Limit Hold’em tournament drew 343 players, up from last year’s field of 302 players. The turnout generated a prize pool of $687,050. The top 36 finishers made the money in this tournament, including bracelet winner Brent Wheeler (33rd), Jeff Lisandro (30th), Jonathan Little (29th), David “Bakes” Baker (10th), and Mike Watson (8th).
The final table featured a woman who has been on the WSOP final table stage before, Maria Ho. Ho is the sixth woman to make a final table this summer, while Johnson is the 28th player to make multiple final tables this summer. Additionally, Johnson's final table appearance marked the eighth time for a player to return to the same finale they appeared at in 2012.
