CASINO CHAMPION PROFILE: STEVE FOUTTY

Steve Foutty wins the Casino Championship title at Harveys Lake Tahoe for the second straight year.

Stateline, Nev. (November 12, 2015) – Steve Foutty has won the Casino Champion title at the Harveys Lake Tahoe stop for the second consecutive year. He cashed four times, reached three final tables and won one gold ring. This is on the heels of last year’s performance at this property where he cashed three times, reached two final tables and won one gold ring.

Foutty now has three gold rings to his name. He won his first gold ring last year at Tahoe. He won his second gold ring in March at the Bicycle Casino and now he has just picked up his third gold ring, and second career ring at Harveys Lake Tahoe.

Foutty made is presence known early in the series after reaching the series’ opening event’s final table. He finished 8th. Tom Masinter went on to win the gold ring in the opening event to earn his second career gold ring and take the early lead in the Casino Championship.

Foutty didn’t wait long to take control of the lead in the Casino Championship. He went on to win Event #4 - $365 No-Limit Hold’em to take the Casino Championship and he never gave it back after that.

Foutty added a cushion to his lead by cashing in the monster stack and then final tabling the PLO event. He would need that cushion, because on the last day of the series Joey Brown came within just three spots of passing Foutty. Brown made it to the third and final day of the Main Event. There were 10 players remaining to start the day and Brown was tied for seventh in chips. Brown needed a second place finish to pass Foutty, nobody else was in reach. Brown ended up finishing in fifth for $38,656, his largest ever WSOP score.

The Casino Championship title will send Foutty back to the Global Casino Championship (previously called the National Championship) for the second straight year. He will be looking for some redemption as he failed to reach the money last year. Foutty’s 2014 and 2015 Harveys Lake Tahoe stats are incredible. They include seven cashes, five final tables and two victories.
