2014 MAIN EVENT STARTS AIRING ON ESPN SUNDAY

ESPN kicks off its coverage of the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event on Sunday, September 28th.

The cards hit the airwaves at 9 p.m. ET, starting seven weeks of coverage. Each Sunday from now until November 9th, ESPN will air two hour-long episodes as the 6,683-player field is whittled down to the nine players at the final table.

The tournament, held from July 5th-14th earlier this year, is currently on hiatus, and the nine final tablists – the November 9 – will return to Las Vegas on November 10th and 11th to play down to a winner, who will earn $10 million.

The $10 million first-place prize celebrates the 10th year the WSOP has been held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. This is the second-largest first-place prize in the history of the WSOP Main Event. Only the $12 million won by Jamie Gold in 2006 is bigger. The 6,683 players who entered represent the fifth-largest field in Main Event history.

After the final block of episodes airs on November 9th, ESPN will broadcast the final table live from the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio over the following two days.
