WSOP CIRCUIT UNDERWAY AT HARRAH'S TUNICA

TUNICA, MS - The first of 19 events scheduled for the 2009/2010 World Series of Poker Circuit Events at Harrah’s Tunica kicked off Wednesday at Harrah’s Tunica. The $340 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event attracted a field of 304 players.
The 2009/2010 season marks the sixth year that the Circuit Events have come to Harrah’s Tunica with this year’s tournament carrying poker’s January tradition of Mid-South WSOP action.
The Tunica Circuit has ballooned from 2005 with eight events added to the roster since its inauguration. To accommodate its growth, the Circuit Events were moved from the poker room to Harrah’s Tunica’s 2300-seat Event Center.
Tournament directors Jimmy Sommerfeld and Bill Bruce are pleased with a structure that despite the expected large turnout, would ensure that players would get the most tournament play for their buck.
The NLH structure for this year’s Circuit, which includes 33 levels with blinds starting at 25/25 has also been well-received by the players.
“We’re always looking to improve the structures,” said Bruce
“Everywhere we go, we get players’ feedback in person or by email and we make sure to listen. Not only have we added chips, but we’ve addressed the structure, making for a very player-friendly tournament.”
