22-Year-Old Student Samuel Oberlin Will Be Chip Leader for Main Event Final Day

It took less than five hours for the 27 players returning on day two to get down to nine after Oberlin left Bob Cole on the bubble by beating his Ac-5c with A-K. The finalists include several pros, and perhaps the best-known player is Circuit regular Dean Schultz, who has racked up some 600,000 in tournament cashes, half of it coming from winning a Borgota/WPT $2,500 event.
This event had been notable because of the presence of a husband and wife, David and Stacy Kopacz. Stacy, however, went out midway through day two after losing most of her chips when she held pocket kings and lost to an A-K when an ace hit the river.
Here are the chip counts going into the final day:
| Samuel Oberlin | 229,500 |
| Jamin Stokes | 189,500 |
| Len Ashby | 177,000 |
| David Kopacz | 151,000 |
| Jerry Martin | 137,500 |
| Joey Couden | 128,000 |
| Derek Whelan | 117,500 |
| Dean Schultz | 114,000 |
| Ray Lynn | 17,500 |
