Danny Howze wins $1000 (+$60) No Limit Hold 'em Circuit Event
Event #3: No Limit Hold 'em
Location: Bally's/Paris Las Vegas
Buy-in: $1000 (+60)
Number of Entries: 205
Total Prize Money: $198,850
9th Place: Dan Starkey, $3,977
Dan Starkey was the first final table casualty when he found himself 'all in' with Kc-10c against pocket jacks. The flop of 8=9=6 brought two clubs, giving Dan the flush draw, but the turn and the river failed to produce the king or club that he needed to stay alive. Dan's 9th place finish earned him $3,977.
8th Place: Tommy (Tuan) Vu, $5,966
Short stacked and fresh off of a bad beat, Tommy (Tuan) Vu put his chips in on the button with 8-3. From the big blind, Zack called the additional 6300 in chips with K-5. The flop was brutal for Tommy as it fell K=K=6. A five on the turn gave Zack the full house, and Tommy an 8th place finish worth $5,966.
7th Place: Mark Wilds, $7,954
Mark Wilds was put to a decision for all of his chips after a flop of 10=6=6 brought an 'all in' bet from Richard. After deliberating, Mark made the right call with J-10 to find himself ahead of Richard's K-9. The ace on the turn was of no importance, but a river king put Mark out in 7th place, earning $7,954.
6th Place: Jae Chang, $9,943
Chang was down to 4000 in chips with blinds of 1000-2000 when he went 'all in' with A-2. Both Jimmy and Constantinos called from the blinds. The blinds checked the flop of 7=5=4. A nine on the turn brought a bet from Jimmy, as he made two pair with 9-4. Constantinos folded. Only a three would have saved Chang for the wheel, but it was not meant to be as the river brought a king leaving Chang with 6th place and $9,943.
5th Place: Richard Harter, $11,931
It was 'all in' before the flop for Richard with 8-10, when he received a call from Jimmy with A-Q. Richard flopped top pair when it came 8=5=6. No help for Jimmy on the turn with a three, but an ace on the river turned the tables on Richard's good luck for the day, and gave him 5th place honors and a cash prize of $11,931.
4th Place: Zack Marshak, $15,908
Zack Marshak took the fall when he pushed 'all in' from the small blind with A-7 and was called by Jimmy in the big blind with A-8. Far behind, the flop of 8=J=K left Zack needing running cards to stay alive. His hopes vanished as a 5 on the turn left him drawing dead to a 4th place finish worth $15,908.
3rd Place: Constantinos Maniatis, $19,885
Constantinos Maniatis was in the small blind when he pushed 'all in' with pocket nines. He was called almost immediately by Danny with A-J. He held the lead after the flop came 5=3=K, but a jack on the turn left him with a two outer which he did not hit, as the river was an eight. Constantinos' 3rd place finish earned him $19,885.
Runner up: Jimmy Tran, $36,191
1st Place: Danny Howze, $65,621
After just two hands heads up, Jimmy was all in with 2-3 against Danny's A-2. The flop of 4=Q=4 was no help to Jimmy, nor was the eight on the turn or five on the river. Jimmy Tran took home 2nd place with a payday of $36,191, while Danny Howze placed first with the Circuit Event winner's ring, as well as a cash prize of $65,621.
