While Chris Moneymaker may not have as many bracelets as other WSOP Legends, he could very well be the most impactful poker player of all time.

Earning entry to the 2003 WSOP Main Event by winning a $86 online satellite, Moneymaker would go on to defeat Sammy Farha heads-up to take home the title and $2.5 million.

A recreational poker player who successfully turned $86 into $2,500,000 on poker’s biggest stage, Moneymaker inspired people around the world to learn the game of poker and play at the WSOP.

In the years that followed Moneymaker’s win in the Main Event, the WSOP and poker tournaments around the world saw historic turnouts, with online poker dramatically rising in popularity as well. This period is referred to by many as the Poker Boom, with Moneymaker’s inspiring win in the 2003 Main Event deemed as the catalyst.

A humble family man who resides outside of Memphis, Tennessee, Moneymaker remains a fan favorite who continues to inspire poker players to chase their dreams every summer at the WSOP.
