GAVIN MUNROE WINS HORSESHOE TUNICA MAIN EVENT

"The next time I play Caleb Wardurp in a game of 21 I'm going to beat him"

Tunica, MS (2 May 2022) - The three-ring club just added its newest member as Gavin Munroe is the latest Main Event champion of the 2021/2022 World Series of Poker Circuit season after he topped a field of 536 entries to walk away with the Horseshoe Tunica $1,700 Main Event title, a $158,424 top prize, and a seat into the 2022 Tournament of Champions.

"It feels really good," Munroe stated after his win, "Credit to my friends, they helped out a lot."

Munroe came into the final day with a healthy chip lead holding over one third of the chips in play and continued to until he held every chip in play as he eliminated four of his final five opponents on his way to victory.

"I had a lot of momentum last night and I kind of just wanted to play it out, but I'm happy with the way things turned out today. "

Munroe continued, "I got a text from one of my best friends Caleb Wardrup this morning. He told me to finish this thing off because the last time we played a game of 21 (Basketball), I was up 20-14 and I couldn't finish hm off, so I want him to know, the next time we play 21 I'm going to beat him."

Munroe added, "I also want to give a shoutout to my boy Trace Henderson, we travel everywhere together, hone each other, and keep one another humble."

The final table dominance secured Munroe his third gold ring, his largest WSOP cash to date and a seat into the 2022 Tournament of Champions and he finished by saying, "I'm excited for the T.O.C. and am very happy I qualified."

Day 3 Action

The final day of the Main Event saw six players return from Day 2, with each guaranteed at least a $30,881 payday.

The action kicked right into gear off the bat as Carey Dukes out-kicked Munroe for a double in the very first hand of the day, only to fall the very next hand after being dominated by Scott Mauer's big slick and was the first player to exit on the final day.

Shortly after, Dongwuk Moon found himself in a cooler situation after flopping a spade flush with nine-eight only to have Munroe roll over a better flush with queen-jack.

Moon had a straight flush possibility if a six of spades were to fall on the river, but it didn't come and became the second elimination of the day.

Play slowed down once four-handed action was reached as it took almost two full levels until Mauer departed in fourth place after he failed to win a race against Munroe.

From there, Munroe held over half of the chips in play and the final two eliminations went quick as Elanit Hasas and Lance Goodman departed in back-to-back hands.
