31 July 2022 (Durant, Oklahoma) - As the saying goes, all good things must eventually come to an end. Tomorrow will be the final day of play here at Choctaw Casino & Resort, and two lucky players will be crowned WSOP Circuit champions.
The second day of the Main Event concluded today. Out of the 149 poker players that competed in Day Two, only 13 survived make it to the third and final day. As the players bagged, Gargantuan Champion Dakotah O'Dell would be the one to write the biggest number on his chip slip, reaching 5,130,000 after the dust settled. Not far behind is Bradley Ruben, securing a stack of 4,485,000 heading into the final day of the series. Tomorrow, a Main Event champion will be decided, but they won't be the only ones securing a piece of WSOP hardware.
In the appropriately named $400 buy-in Finale NLH tournament, 230 players made their way to Choctaw to take one last shot at WSOP Circuit glory. Of the 230 players, only two remain with their eyes square on WSOP Circuit gold. After 14 hours of play and an already intense bout of head's-up poker, the WSOP Tournament Director enforced a hard stop, with only Lucas Tae (2,110,000 chips) and Eric Bunch (1,340,000 chips) remaining at the final table. Tomorrow at 2 PM, head's-up play will resume, and only one of the two remaining players will leave with a WSOP Circuit ring.
The Event #12 $250 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em event came to a close Sunday, with Choctaw Texas native Chris Khieu claiming his first career WSOP Circuit ring. Khieu not only had to surpass the entire 193 player flight, but also endured a competitive final table which included 2017 Choctaw Main Event champion Daniel Lowery. Being dealt the cards he needed, Khieu made it through a long heads-up duel with fellow final table member Derrick White. While he was happy with the ring and $9,402 top prize, he was most thankful for the final table experience.
Tomorrow, Monday, August 1st, the final day of Choctaw Circuit series will take place, bringing an unforgettable Circuit stop to a close. To follow all of the action, be sure to check in here throughout the remainder of the Main Event.
