02 May 2022 (Tunica, Mississippi ) - The World Series of Poker Circuit made its second scheduled stop at Horseshoe, Tunica for the 2021/2022 season. Tunica was the final stop of the season before the World Series of Poker kicks off in Las Vegas.
A total of 4,578 entries were logged during the tournament series offering up $2,083,305 in prizes which was highlighted by nine first-time ring winners.
Kicking things off was a double stack event. Out of the 243-entry field, Thomas Richey took down Event #1, claiming his first WSOP gold ring and $18,238.
Next up was the $200 Ladies event, with a total of 63 entries and a prize pool of $10,080. Cynthia Compton topped the field, earning her second WSOP Circuit gold ring and $3,323.
The third event of the series was the $400 Multi-Day Event. Four starting flights drew a 939-entry field, taking their shot at gold but in the end, it was Kelly Black taking it down. He claimed his first WSOP gold ring and a payday of $52,173.
Steven Spencer was the next person to claim his first WSOP Circuit ring. Spencer was able to run through a 318-entry field in Event #4: $250 No-Limit Hold’em Seniors, where he secured a victory of $13,864.
Event #5 was up next, and this one-day event had a total player-field of 147 entries, generating a prize pool of $48,510. Ryan Weaver claimed the grand prize of $12,605 and earned his first WSOP Circuit gold ring.
After running deep in a couple of the first events, Frank Covich had added to his hardware collection, taking home his second WSOP Circuit gold ring and $19,019 after defeating a field of 249-entries in the $400 6-max.
The following day was the only Pot-Limit Omaha event in the series, with a $400 buy-in there were a total of 146 entries and $48,180 in the prize pool. Jessie Bryant collected his fifth career WSOP Circuit gold ring and $12,667.
Danny Miles defeated a player field of 260 to earn his first WSOP Circuit gold ring and his share of the $85,800 prize pool, taking home $19,239.
Robert Hankins added an impressive tenth ring to his collection after defeating a player pool 555 entries in the 2-Day $400 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack. Hankins earned his share of the $183,150 prize pool, taking home $34,331.
The next player added his name to the two-time ring winner list. After making a final table in Event #3, he closed the deal in Event #10: $600 Black Chip Bounty No-Limit Hold’em, claiming the first-place prize of $21,775.
Event #11: $400 No-Limit Hold’em had 139 entries and created a prize pool of $45,870. At the end of the One-Day tournament it was Nichols Hobbs claiming his first WSOP Circuit gold ring and $12,223.
series fresh off his second-place finish in the Choctaw Main Event, was able to spin-up his final table short-stack in Event #10: $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em to claim the top prize of $74,995.
Barbara Smith (Event #13 - $14,007), Matthew Jock (Event #14 - $15,532), and Blake Burgess (Event #16 - $14,254), were all able to take home their first WSOP Circuit rings in the final weekend of the Horseshoe Tunica Circuit, while Marty Martin claimed his second ring for $10,434 in the seniors event.
After three days of grinding, Gavin Munroe earned his third WSOP Circuit gold ring as he became the Tunica Main Event Champion. Munroe had a fantastic Day 2 to find himself with the chiplead heading into the Final six on Day 3. From there he didn’t have many downslides and kept the momentum rolling until he had all of the chips in play, taking home $158,424.
All 16 official ring winners at Horseshoe, Tunica earned a seat to the Tournament of Champions, a $1,000,000 guaranteed freeroll tournament that will feature a field of all the ring winners from the 2021/22 season, and bracelet winners from the 2022 WSOP.
This will be held during the 53rd annual WSOP in the summer of 2022 and will have coveted gold bracelet up top.
