COLIN YORK TAKES CHIP LEAD TO DAY 2 OF PLANET HOLLYWOOD MAIN EVENT

Colin York Bagged Biggest Day 1A Stack, Takes Overall Chip Lead Into Day 2 of Main Event

Las Vegas, NV (September 4, 2016) - Two starting flights of the $1,675 no-limit hold'em main event are in the books and as the field heads to Day 2 on Sunday, Colin York will be pacing the field and start the day with the chip lead.

Over the first two days of play, which were comprised of the first two starting flights, there were 528 entries that made up the field. There was a guaranteed prizepool of $750,000, but the 528 entries surpassed the guarantee and generated a prizepool of $792,000, with the top 54 players earning a payday.

Day 1A drew 208 entries on Friday and after 15 levels of play, only 36 remained. Another 320 came out on Saturday for Day 1B to round out the field size. Only 66 remained at the conclusion of Day 1B and 102 are still alive for a Circuit ring when play resumes on Sunday.

The aforementioned York will take the chip lead into Day 2 after bagging 287,500 on Day 1A. Joining York at the top of the counts are Ralph Castaneda (269,500), Henry Tran (256,000), Mark Darner (242,000), and Dale Beaudoin (240,500). Castaneda sits in second chip position after bagging the biggest stack on Day 1B.

Other notable pros to advance to Day 2 include Steve Gross, Chalres "Woody" Moore, Jake Schindler, Dan O'Brien, Sean Yu, Joe Kuether, Stan Jablonski, Tim West, Jeremy Ausmus, Eric Blair, Jack Duong, James Van Alstyne, Lizzy Harrison, Neil Scott, Vincent Moscati, and Ryan Riess. A complete list of Day 2 chip counts can be found here.

Not everybody was lucky enough to survive their starting day and plenty of top players won't be making an appearance on Sunday. Justin Young, Scott Clements, Men Nguyen, Dan Sindelar, Christina Lindley, John Morgan, Robert Cheung, Kathy Liebert, Ylon Schwartz, Justin Oliver, Joey Weissman, Ben Palmer, and Darren Rabinowitz are among the players who were unfortunately unable to survive their respective Day 1.

The remaining 102 players will come back to Planet Hollywood on Sunday for Day 2. Cards will get in the air at noon and cashing will be the first thing on everybody's mind, with about half of the remaining field making the money. A min-cash is worth $3,041, but the winner will take home $170,286 and a Circuit title.
