WSOPE Event #7: €1,650 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Max

Last year's €500 WSOP Europe Colossus bracelet winner has added another piece of jewellery to his collection. Ermanno Di Nicola came into Day 2 as the chip leader of the 2024 WSOPE €1,650 NLH 6-max and finished it as the champion. He earned €111,250, including a WSOPE Main Event Ticket for his efforts in addition to a coveted gold bracelet, after besting a field of 351 entrants over two days and scooped the lion's share of the €494,910 prize pool.

Di Nicola defeated Dohang Na in heads-up play, which lasted around an hour. Na came into today's play in 11th place and secured €75,550 for his efforts. In third was Rachid El Yaacoubi, who claimed the third and final WSOPE Main Event Ticket in his prize of €53,550.

Winner's Reaction

Di Nicola was thrilled to win his "second consecutive bracelet", adding, "I like the 6-max format; it's very aggressive and suits my style of play very well."

He added that he is looking forward to playing the WSOPE Main Event and is looking to play "anything possible" in the near to distant future following this evening's success.

Day 2 Action

Eliminations came thick and fast in the first four levels of play, with the initial 89-player field being whittled down to 56 by the end of the first break.

With 53 players of the field getting paid, it was Rafi Elharar who bubbled the tournament, missing out on a min-cash of €3,005. Post bubble, the action continued at a seemingly relentless pace, with several big pots and multiway all-ins taking place. Eventual final tablist Traian Stanciu scooping a three-way all in to build his stack.

Timur Margolin was eliminated by eventual final tablist Rachid El Yaacoubi who kept chipping up. He eliminated Vladimir Troyanovskiy to take play to a seven handed final table.

Final Table Action

The pace of play did not hold up at the final table. Na took the first two pots, the first of which he got three streets of value with aces .

He then went on to bust Vincent Meli in seventh place to maintain momentum.

Di Nicola's first final table scalp came when he bust Axel Bayout after the Frenchman was left short after shoving into Stanciu's queens.

His second knockout came when he sent Amiel Gamliel to the rail after he shoved into Di Nicola with an inferior ace.

Earlier in the tournament, Gamiel told PokerNews, "If you get to write about me, please say zero to hero" after the Swiss national spent the majority of Day 1 and portions of Day 2 hovering around the 20 big blind mark or below. His heroic efforts were rewarded with a fifth-place finish.

Di Nicola continued his stacking spree by besting the jacks of fourth-place finisher Stanciu with queens.

It didn't end there for Di Nicola, as he claimed El Yaacoubi's stack having five-bet all in on the flop.

Na had to overcome a roughly 3:1 chip deficit in order to take down the bracelet. He reduced the deficit by making trips. Still, ultimately the cards were in Di Nicola's favour today as his cowboys held against Na's ace high to secure the Italian his second bracelet.

Di Nicola bet 125,000 on the flop of     which Na called. Di Nicola then checked the   river before Na bet 150,000. Di Nicola then put in the check-raise to 580,000. Na called.

Di Nicola then led for 1,300,000 and Na made the call. Di Nicola showed    for two pair and Na mucked.

With no action preflop, Ermanno Di Nicola decided to check-raise Dohang Na's 65,000 bet, bumping it up to 170,000. Na wasn't backing down, though, and responded with a three-bet to 450,000, which Di Nicola called.

On the   turn, Di Nicola checked again, and Na kept the pressure on with a 600,000 bet. After some thought, Di Nicola made the call.

Both players checked the river, bringing them to a showdown. Na revealed    for a pair of nines, but Di Nicola flipped over   , also showing a pair of nines but with a stronger kicker. That was enough for Di Nicola to scoop the pot.

The action folded around to Ermanno Di Nicola in the small blind, who opted to limp. But Traian Stanciu in the big blind wasn't about to let it go so easily—he raised the stakes to 100,000. Di Nicola wasn't backing down, though, and answered with a three-bet to 335,000. Sensing his moment, Stanciu took a gamble and shoved all-in, only to be met with an instant call from Di Nicola.

Earlier in the tournament, Stanciu had pulled off some near-miraculous hands by hitting sets on the board, but this time, his luck had run dry. The board ran out      , giving both players two pair, but Di Nicola's queens held strong, sending Stanciu to the rail as Di Nicola claimed another pot.

Traian Stanciu opened from the button to 110,000. Axel Bayout reraised all in from the small blind and had Stanciu slightly covered.

Bayout couldn't spike an ace across the       and was left short.

The next hand, Ermanno Di Nicola opened from early position before Bayout put in his last 45,000. Amiel Gamliel called from the big blind.

Gamliel and Di Nicola checked the     flop before Gamliel checked again on the   turn. Di NIcola bet 100,000 and Gamliel folded.

The river bricked out for Bayout and Di Nicola claimed the pot and sent Bayout to the rail.

Dohang Na opened from under the gun to 80,000. Action folded around to Amiel Gamliel who defended the big blind.

Gamliel check-called a bet of     and check-called a 225,000 bet on the   turn. The   river brought another check from Gamliel and another bet from Na, this time for 400,000.

Gamliel went into the tank for just shy of a minute before calling.

Na tabled    for two pair. Gamliel mucked before remarking "that's a nice first hand" before tapping the table.
