After over fifteen hours of gruelling mixed poker action, Yair Van Ruiten has been crowned champion of Event #13 €1,650 Pot Limit Omaha/No Limit Hold’em Mix to win their first WSOP Europe Gold Bracelet and a cool €85,405.

The Dutchman was a constant menace at the top of the chip rankings and such was his confidence at the tree table redraw he asked a WSOP.com reporter if there are any additional goodies for winning the event.

Speaking to his close friend and backer Rugter Bosch, who finished sixth in the event was delighted for Van Ruiten “This is a dream come true, getting to play on a final table with my friend is wild.”

Bosch revealed that they were only at King’s due to Van Ruiten winning a ticket for the WSOP Europe Main Event after finishing 4th at the Benelux Classic earlier this year at Rozvadov. "It wasn't the plan to play this event, but I backed my friend who has all the talent in the world, and hopefully this will be a springboard for him"

Van Ruiten was full of adrenaline after defeating Iannos Konstas in quick fashion after flopping a full house of nines full of fours which beat Konstas’s flopped trip-fours.

Final Day Action

In the first hand of the day, Said Madani knocked out Paul-Francois Tedeschi and Henrik Hecklen after Madani made a set of kings.

Van Ruiten was in the upper echelons of the chip rankings for much of the day and the catalyst was when the Dutchman knocked out Sergio Benso when his wrap made a straight.

The players were on the bubble within two hours of play, but the bubble lasted just as long to the frustration of the players. Eventually, it was Nils Pudel who was the bubble boy after shoving with pocket jacks into Marco Di Persio’s pocket kings.

Another highlight was to see Roland Israelashvili running… well moving quickly as he can up and down the King’s Tournament Arena as he was multi-tabling this event and the Main Event and the bubble for both tournaments happened to coincide with one another. Israelashvili managed to cash in both events.

Final Table Action

The only player at the final table who owned a WSOP bracelet was Manig Loeser, who unfortunately was the first player to be eliminated at the final table. The German high-roller got it in good with pocket aces in Omaha, but eventual winner Van Ruiten hit two pair on the flop to take out Loeser.

Frenchman Steve Galletti was the next to depart after Konstas spiked an ace on the river to send Galletti to the rail. Bosch was the next to fall in sixth place after their stack dwindled to less than five big blinds. They got it in with king-jack off and ran into Christian Pocklow’s pocket queens.

Bubble burster Di Persio finished in fifth after his pair of jacks was defeated by Ran Ilani’s Broadway straight. Ilani’s joy was short-lived as they were the next to leave the competition. The Israeli flopped bottom two pair, however, Christian Pocklow went runner-runner to make queens and fives to beat Ilani’s threes and twos.

Polklow finished in third place after Konstas hit a full house to defeat the German’s queen-high straight.

This concludes coverage of this event, but there are still two more days of high-octane poker action at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, including the conclusion of the WSOP Europe Main Event. WSOP.com will provide exclusive coverage until its conclusion.

"What do you think I have?" queried Konstas who followed up his line of questioning with "Do you have a four?" Van Huiten responded with a shrug.

After five minutes in the tank Van Huiten asked for the clock. This was acknowledged by the tournament director, but due to the enormity of the decision allowed Konstas more thinking time. Konstas then grabbed his remaining stack and slammed it in the middle.
