Besim Hot Leads After Day 1 of Event #6: €25,500 Short Deck High Roller No-Limit Hold’em

Besim Hot

It's a wrap for Day 1 of the first ever €25,500 Short Deck High Roller No-Limit Hold'em event at the World Series of Poker Europe. The first day of this event drew 65 entries , but only 30 players found a bag at the end of the night. With late registration still being open till the start of Level 13 on Day 2 (around 3:30 p.m.), these numbers are not final.

Leading the way in what was a star-studded field is Besim Hot, from Switzerland, with 6,397,000 in chips. Hot has $1,609,716 in total live earnings on his poker resume and will be going after his first bracelet. He is followed by Jonathan Depa with 5,540,000. Depa has made multiple final tables at the WSOP and got extremely close to winning a bracelet this summer but ended up getting 6th in Event #43: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet at the 2019 50th Annual World Series of Poker. Renato Nowak rounds up the top three with 3,936,000.

Other stacks near the top of the leaderboard include Richard Yong (3,462,000) and Leon Tsoukernik (3,262,000). Tsoukernik has over $3,600,00 in poker earnings and will be going for another High Roller cash.

Numerous champions made it through alongside the chip leaders, including bracelet winners Daniel Negreanu (1,709,000), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (1,461,000), Chris Ferguson (1,160,000), and Sam Higgs (1,100,000).

Phil Ivey

Unfortunately, not all of the fan favorites who took a shot at this new WSOPE event advanced to Day 2. Ten-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey, as well as Shaun Deeb, Dario Sammartino, and Tony G, didn't make it through, but they will have the option to re-enter tomorrow.

Cards will be back in the air at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19th and action will resume at Level 11 which features an ante of 20,000 with a button ante of 40,000.
