Sekularac and Salter Shoot Up the Leaderboard

Hani Bahna

A raising war broke out between Jack Salter in the cutoff and Hani Bahna on the button. The latter five-bet shoved for more than 220,000 and Salter called to create a massive pot.

The     flop improved Salter to top pair, and he left Bahna with just one out on the   turn. The   river was a blank and Bahna left the tournament area with a disappointed look on the face.

An even bigger pot played out one table over. Ognjen Sekularac raised to 4,400 and Duc Tuan Tran called from one seat over. Boris Kolev moved all in for 40,300 and he was called by Sekularac and Tran. The flop came     and Sekularac made it 25,000 to go, which prompted the shove of Tran.

Sekularac asked for a count and Tran was all in for 169,300, the call of the Serbian followed to create the biggest pot of the tournament so far.

"Nine!" Tran demanded, and then also asked for a seven once the   turn gave him a gutshot. However, the wish wasn't granted as the blank   river completed the board and ensured the double knockout.

Warburton Doubles Through Mandic

Tobias Peters opened to 4,300 from early position and Goran Mandic re-raised to 13,500 in the hijack. Steven Warburton four-bet to 40,000 on the button and Peters gave it some thought before stepping aside. Mandic shipped all in and Warburton quickly called off his stack of 154,200.

The flop of     left Warburton in the lead with his pocket kings. The   on the turn meant Mandic was looking for an ace only. The river was the   and Warburton secured himself a nice double up.

Life Doesn't Get Easier for Foxen

While Alex Foxen relieved his ears of the enduring pain caused by Martin Kabrhel, he now has other worries with Jan-Eric Schwippert taking the seat on his left. Schwippert is coming off a final table appearance in the €100,000 Super High Roller and will surely be a force to be reckoned with.

The two tangled early when Schwippert opened from under the gun and Foxen defended from the big blind. The flop fell     and Foxen check-called a bet of 4,000 from Schwippert.

The   on the turn put four diamonds on the board and both players checked to the   on the river. Foxen checked again and Schwippert tossed out a bet of 12,000. Foxen looked him up and Schwippert tabled    to drag in the pot.

Johansson Folds to Troyanovskiy

Anton Johansson raised to 8,000 from the small blind and Vladimir Troyanovskiy defended his big blind.

The flop came down    , Johansson continued with a bet of 4,000 which Troyanovskiy called.

They both checked through the   on the turn to the   on the river. Johansson check-folded to the 8,000 bet of Troyanovskiy.

Szecsi Shows a Trey

A four-bet to 43,000 was cut out and in front of Vladimir Geshkenbein and he then faced the shove of Norbert Szecsi for more than 170,000. Geshkenbein could all but grin and folded, he was shown the   by the two-time WSOP bracelet winner.

High Rollers Clash in Big Pot

Michael Addamo and Johannes Becker, two of the well-known high rollers playing at this year's WSOPE, are currently seated right next to each other among the 288 players.

On a board reading      , Addamo checked from the cutoff. Becker bet 36,000 on the button into a pot of around 50,000. Addamo went into the tank and made the call just as the level was ending. Becker tabled    and Addamo threw his cards to the muck.

The players are now heading on another 15-minute break.

Sklenicka Eliminates Kolinkovskyi

Michael Sklenicka raised to 3,500 from the early position and Pavlo Kolinkovskyi shoved for around 30,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Sklenicka who called.

Geilich Takes One Without Showdown

Aleksandar Tomovic had raised from early position and picked up three callers in Romain Lewis, Jakob Miegel and Ludovic Geilich in the cutoff. The flop came     and Tomovic continued for 7,200, which prompted a fold from Lewis and a call from Miegel. Geilich had other plans and raised it up to 26,500, which ended up winning the pot without showdown after the folds of his opponents.

Foxen Catches Kabrhel's Bluff

The board read      with about 90,000 in the pot.

Alex Foxen had checked and Martin Kabrhel shoved for 67,000. Foxen tanked and then called with    for the turned pair of jacks with the ace-kicker. Kabrhel held    for the bluff and the   on the river didn't matter any more as Kabrhel's first bullet missed and he was sent to the cashier to reenter.

Filatov Takes Speranza Out

Mihail Mazilu had opened from under the gun and Anatoly Filatov three-bet to 12,000 from the hijack. Gianluca Speranza, who finished as the runner-up in this event last year, shoved for 39,300 from the small blind. Mazilu folded and Filatov considered it for a while before making the call.

The board ran out       with the queen in the window for Filatov to hit a pair of queens and improve to two pair on the river to eliminate Speranza.

Armin Rezai had raised from early position and Amhed Abdella in the cutoff as well as Mykhailo Gutyi in the big blind came along, creating a pot of 30,000. The flop fell     and the action checked to Abdella, who bet 19,000. Only Gutyi called and the   turn was checked. On the   river, Gutyi then bet 20,000 and Abdella reluctantly called.

Gutyi rolled over the    for a full house and Abdella could all but grin.
