Event #47: One Drop High Roller - $111,111 No-Limit Hold'em

Antonio Esfandiari, Bill Perkins, and Chris Klodnicki went so far in the game, and yet on the fourth and final day, they were unable to get over that final hump. They were unable to conquer the End Boss, Anthony Gregg.

A total of 166 players entered this six-figure high roller event, generating a total prize pool of $17,891,148 and more than a half of a million dollars for charity. The final table began on Day 3, but due to time constraints, the aforementioned four players had to return for a fourth day. Perkins had the chip lead, but with generally shallow stacks, anything could happen.

The first casualty of the day was the Big One for One Drop Champion himself, Esfandiari. The Magician found himself all in and at risk in a race situation, and was eliminated when Klodnicki hit an ace on the river. Stunned, Esfandiari threw his hands on his head and strolled around the stage for a minute or so, but stayed to rail his good friend Perkins.

Perkins did not live much longer, however, doubling up Gregg and then exiting in third place. Perkins was all in and dominated with ace-five against the ace-queen of Gregg, and actually flopped a five to take the lead, but Gregg hit a queen on the river, spelling the end of Leroy Jenkins.

Gregg entered heads-up play with a near two-to-one chip advantage against Klodnicki, and quickly extended his lead. Gregg won a massive pot where he got three streets of value with two pair, leaving Klodnicki with around 20 big blinds. On the final hand, Klodnicki three-bet jammed on the flop with just a gut-shot straight draw, and Gregg called with top pair. Gregg held, and was crowned the champion.

Lynn Gilmartin was table-side to chat with the champion after his win:

It wasn't easy for the End Boss - he had the shortest stack with 13 players remaining on Day 3 - yet he was always calm, cool, and collected, even during one of the sickest hands of the tournament. Nothing seemed to phase Gregg, even winning nearly five million dollars. During the winner photos and interviews, all he wanted to do was hop into the $25,000 Six-Max, which he registered for with two tables left in this event.

"Wrap it up!" he yelled at friend and 2012 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Merson, who was doing an interview with PokerNews while Gregg was waiting to take the group winner's photo.

Hand #79: Gregg limped on on the button, Klodnicki checked, and the flop fell    . Klodnicki led out for 425,000, and Gregg folded.

Hand #69: Chris Klodnicki limped in on the button, Anthony Gregg checked, and the flop fell    . Gregg checked, Klodnicki fired out 550,000, and Gregg called. The turn was the  , Gregg led out for one million, and Klodnicki folded.

Hand #70: Gregg raised to 800,000, Klodnicki called, and the flop came down    . Klodnicki check-folded to a bet of 600,000.

Hand #71: Klodnicki raised to 800,000 on the button, taking down the blinds and antes.

Hand #72: Gregg raised to 800,000 on the button, Klodnicki defended, and the dealer fanned    . The turn was the  , Klodnicki checked, and Gregg tossed out a bet. Klodnicki folded.

Hand #73: Klodnicki raised to 800,000, Gregg three-bet shoved for effectively 7.8 million, and Klodnicki asked the dealer to pull the bets it. He smiled at Gregg before dipping his head to examine his own stack, he then lifted his head to call.

The crowed "ohhhhh'd" at the sight of the hands, and the two chopped the pot as the board came      .

Hand #65: Chris Klodnicki raised to 800,000 on the button, Anthony Gregg three-bet to 2.2 million, and Klodnicki folded.

Hand #66: Gregg had the button, and raised to 800,000. Klodnicki defended, the dealer spread    , and Klodnicki checked. Gregg fired out 900,000, taking down the pot.

Hand #67: Klodnicki raised to 800,000, Gregg called, and the flop fell    . Gregg led out for 900,000, Klodnicki called, and the turn was the  . Gregg slowed down, opting to check, Klodnicki fired out two million, and Gregg folded.

Hand #68: Gregg raised to 800,000, Klodnicki defended, and the flop came    . Klodnicki checked, Gregg continued for 900,000, and Klodnicki called. The turn was a third spade - the   - and Klodnicki knuckled again. Gregg fired out 2.4 million, Klodnicki called, and the   completed the board. Klodnicki checked a third and final time, and Gregg slid out 5.9 million. Klodnicki called.

Gregg tabled    for aces and tens, winning a massive pot.

Hand #61: Chris Klodnicki had the button, and raised to 800,000. Anthony Gregg three-bet to 2.2 million, and Klodnicki tank-folded.

Hand #62: Gregg raised to 800,000, Klodnicki defended, and both players checked on a flop of    . The turn was the  , Klodnicki knuckled again, and Gregg fired out 1.2 million. Klodnicki called.

The   completed the board, Klodnicki checked again, and Gregg bet another 2.7 million. Klodnicki tanked for a minute or so, then folded.

Hand #63: Klodnicki raised on the button, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #64: Gregg raised on the button, Klodnicki three-bet to 2.3 million, and Gregg called. The flop fell    . Klodnicki checked, Gregg tossed out 1.6 million, and Klodnicki check-raised all in for 13.8 million. Gregg quickly folded.

Hand #59: Anthony Gregg limped in from the small blind, Chris Klodnicki checked his option, and the flop came down    . Gregg checked to Klodnicki who bet 400,000. Gregg, though, check-raised to 1.3 million and forced Klodnicki out.

Hand #60: Anthony Gregg called on the button, Chris Klodnicki folded his small blind, and Bill Perkins shoved from the big blind for 5,350,000. Gregg called immediately.

The flop came down     to give Perkins the lead with a pair of fives. The   landed on the turn, giving Gregg additional outs to his queen with a flush draw. The   landed on the river, though, ending Perkins' run in third place.

Perkins cringed at the sight of his tournament-ending card. "I got rivered!" he said, before embracing with Klodnicki and Gregg.

Hand #55: With a dead small blind, Bill Perkins raised to nine million on the button, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #56: With a dead button, Perkins raised to 900,000 in first position, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #57: Anthony Gregg limped in on the button, Chris Klodnicki completed his small blind, and Perkins moved all in from the big blind. Gregg and Klodnicki both folded.

Hand #58: Klodnicki raised to 800,000 on the button, Perkins moved all in from the small blind, and Gregg called all in for 11.850 million. Klodnicki folded.

Perkins' rail tried to will a ten from the deck, but there was no ten on the     flop. Perkins had a gut-shot straight draw though, and the   on the turn gave him a double belly buster, but the   on the river gave him a meaningless pair.

Gregg doubled into the chip lead, while Perkins now has the short stack.

Hand #50: Chris Klodnicki raised to 800,000 on the button, Antonio Esfandiari moved all in in the big blind, and Klodnicki folded.

Hand #51: Klodnicki raised to 800,000 in the cutoff, Bill Perkins three-bet to 2.4 million on the button, and Klodnicki folded.

Hand #52: Esfandiari raised to 825,000 on the button, Klodnicki three-bet shoved in the big blind, and Esfandiari folded.

Hand #53: Esfandiari raised to 800,000 in first position, and took down the blinds and antes.

Hand #54: Klodnicki raised to 800,000 on the button, Esfandiari moved all in for 9.925 million in the big blind, and Klodnicki tank-called.

"It's a fair fight!" Perkins stood and yelled when the hands were tabled.

True enough, the two were racing, and Esfandiari remained in the lead when the flop fell    . Klodnicki held backdoor straight and flush draws, but both of them were extinguished when the   turned.

Esfandiari was strolling around the stage, one card away from a much-needed double, and the crowed hushed as the   fell on the river. Stunned, Esfandiari threw his hands on top of his head and walked slowly to where his seat had been. After a few handshakes, the still shell-shocked Esfandiari left the mothership, and a massive, 20 million-chip pot was pushed Klodnicki's way.
