Sabat Doubles Through Berger

Hand #1 - Ben Palmer opened the action from the cutoff with a raise to 40,000, and it folded around to Scott Clements in the small blind. He three bet to 133,000, and it got back to Palmer. He moved all in for his last just about a million chips, and Clements folded, saying that he accidentally bet 25,000 too many.

Hand #2 - Jacob Bazeley raised to 40,000 from the cutoff, and Levi Berger made it 140,000 in the small blind. Eddy Sabat was in the big blind, and he announced all in for his last 720,000. Bazeley quickly folded, and Berger immediately asked for a count. Once he got it, he thought for a few more moments before putting a stack of chips in the middle, signifying a call.

Sabat was in great shape, but the   immediately popped into the window, as the flop came    . Sabat now needed to hit a three outer, and the turn didn't do that, coming the  . However, the   slammed down on the river, and Sabat pumped his fist and yelled "Yes! Holy s**t!"

Once the chips were counted down, Sabat scored the full double to over 1.4 million.

Clifford Goldkind - 7th Place

The unofficial final table lasted just one hand.

Hand #1: Action folded to Clifford Goldkind in the small blind and he raised to 40,000. Scott Clements three-bet to 101,000 from the big blind, Goldkind four-bet to 265,000, and Clements five-bet shoved for about 885,000 effective. Goldkind called all in.

The flop came down     to give Goldkind a flush draw, but it never came as the   turn and   river secured the pot for Clements.

Marcio Cid Eliminated in 8th Place ($41,011)

Marcio Cid

Scott Clements made it 42,000 from the button, and it folded to Marcio Cid in the big blind. He moved all in for his last 680,000, and it didn't take Clements long to call, setting up a huge pot of almost 1.4 million.

The flop sure brought some excitement, coming all diamonds:    . Both players had a diamond, but Cid was the one who picked up the extra outs, as he had the ace of diamonds. Unfortunately for Cid, the board completed with two nines, the   and  , giving Clements the KO and the chip lead and sending us to our unofficial final table.

Goldkind Bests Berger

We caught up with the action on the flop, which read    . Levi Berger and Clifford Goldkind were heads up, and the former bet out 38,000. Goldkind made the call, and Berger checked when the   hit the turn. Goldkind took that as an invitation to bet out 58,000, and Berger came along to see the river, the  .

Berger checked again, and Goldkind threw out a big bet of 138,000. Berger tanked for about two or three minutes before announcing call, then quickly mucked when saw Goldkind table    for two pair. Berger fell to 1.2 million after that hand, while Goldkind is now up to 920,000.

Picking up the action after the the turn of an      board, Eddy Sabat checked from the small blind and Levi Berger bet 55,000 from the big blind. Sabat called to see the   river where he checked again. Berger bet a hefty 175,000 and after about 90 seconds, Sabat called.

Berger tabled    for a flush, besting Sabat's holdings to win the pot.

Bazeley checked to Clements, who fired out a bet of 77,000. Bazeley made the call, and both players checked when the   hit the river.

Bazeley rolled over   , adn Clements tossed his hand toward the dealer. After that pot, Bazeley is up to 800,000, while Clements is just a shade over one million.

Marcio Cid vs. Scott Clements

Marcio Cid raised to 32,000 on the button and Scott Clements defended his big blind.

The flop came down     and Clements check-called 40,000 from Cid to see the   turn. It was more of the same as Clements check-called 75,000 from Cid, landing the   river which both checked.

Clements tabled    for a pair of aces, but Cid took it down with    for two pair.

Mickey Petersen Eliminated in 9th Place ($30,165)

Mickey Petersen - 9th Place

Mickey Peteresen made it 32,000 to go from under the gun, and action folded to Ben Palmer on the button. He thought for about 45 seconds before cutting out raising chips, and put 70,000 in the middle. It got back around to Petersen, and he rechecked his hole cards, thought for about 20 seconds, and moved all in for his last 350,000. Palmer didn't take long to call, and when Petersen saw his hand, he said "you're good."

The board ran down      , and since no player had a club, Palmer's kicker took down the pot. Peterson will take home over $30,00 for his efforts, while Palmer has upped his stack to just over a million.

Tuan Le Eliminated in 10th Place ($30,165)

Tuan Le - 10th Place

Tuan Le had high hopes of winning the second leg of the triple crown today, as he came into play second in chips. However, he fell down to average after doubling two opponents up early, and he has just been eliminated by Eddy Sabat in brutal fashion.

Sabat open limped from the cutoff, as did Levi Berger from the button. Le made it 43,000 to go in the small blind, and when it got to Sabat, he tried the old limp reraise play, with a raise to 150,000. Berger quickly folded, and after a few moments of though, Le moved all in for his final 416,000. Sabat asked for a count, and though he didn't look thrilled about it, he slid the call in.

Le was well out in front, and it stayed that way on the    . The   came on the turn, and Le looked like he would surely double up. Well, you read the title of the post, so you know what's coming next.

The whole table, including Sabat, let out a big groan at the site of the brutal river beat, and a shocked Le could only shake his head in disbelief as he headed towards the rail. After taking that huge pot, Sabat is now our chip leader with 1.36 million.

Play Slowing A Bit

The first ten minutes of post break play have been rather uneventful. Not only has their not been a showdown at either table, we haven't even seen a river card yet. The average stack is 683,000, and with the big stack, Levi Berger, having 983,000, and the short stack, Tuan Le, holding 423,000, everyone is fairly even and content with taking small pots for the time being. Given that it's six-max, we don't expect this to last long.
