Paul Michaelis raises to 34,000 under the gun, and he is called by Tom Marchese in middle position and David Eldridge in the big blind. All three knuckle the felt on a flop, and the hits the turn. Eldridge fires out 63,000, and both Marchese and Michaelis tag along to see the hit the river.
It checks over to Marchese, who thinks for about a minute before betting out 55,000. Eldridge gets out of the way, but Michaelis calls after 90 seconds of thought. Jesse Cohen and Steven Wendroff engage in a raising war that sees Cohen all in and at risk as Wendroff has him slightly covered. Cohen has and Wendroff . Welcome to the third and final day of Event #8: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'Em. Two days ago, 639 players started this event with dreams of winning the $189,818 first-place prize and WSOP gold bracelet. Today, one of the returning 15 players will do precisely that.
That bracelet is up for grabs as four players are bunched at the top of the chip counts with David Eldridge leading the way with 677,000 in chips. Right behind him with 667,000 is Michel Leibgorin who has kept his tables entertained for the past two days. Paul Michaelis is in third with 562,000 and Hillery Kerby rounds out the top four with 455,000 in chips.
