Sklar's On a Rampage

Richard Sklar

Omaha 8

Richard Sklar has not slowed down one bit after getting ahold of some chips two levels ago. Calvin Anderson raised from the small blind and Sklar defended his big. The flop brought out     and Sklar called a bet.

On the turn, the   hit and Anderson bet again. Sklar called. The river brought the   and Anderson check-called. Sklar showed      for a flush and a low - the same low that Anderson had - with     . Sklar got three quarters and Anderson was knocked down to 213,000.

"Gin rummy," Sklar yelled out as he threw      onto the felt. Sklar had made the nut low and a full house, enough to scoop this pot.

"I don't care about the bracelet! Just give me the money," said Sklar with a wry smile.

The colorful gentleman who's been all smiles every day added, "I've been gambling every day for the last 45 years. All I care about are boats and houses and taking trips."

The players at the table laughed and offered to take the bracelet from Sklar, who's in control of this final table for now.

Bonomo Out to Early Lead in 2014 WSOP POY Race

Justin Bonomo

According to PokerNews' latest WSOP Player of the Year update, Justin Bonomo is out to an early lead in the 2014 World Series of Poker Player of the Year standings. Bonomo reached his eighth career final WSOP final table last week and finally claimed his first WSOP bracelet, removing his name from the list of the best players without poker's most prestigious piece of hardware.

Bonomo is followed closely in the standings by Brandon Shack-Harris, a cash game player who virtually came out of nowhere to win a bracelet of his own. Shack-Harris won the largest pot-limit Omaha event in Event #3, and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the $10,000 Razz Championship event.

Sitting third in the POY standings through 20 events is George Danzer, who defeated Shack-Harris heads-up in the Razz Championship on Sunday. It was also the first bracelet for Danzer, wideley considered one of the top mixed-games minds in the game.

Rounding out the top five through the first two weeks of the series are Brock Parker and Jonathan Dimmig. Parker picked up his third career bracelet in Event #10, and Dimmig collected the first seven-figure score of the 2014 WSOP with his victory in the Millionaire Maker.

Max Pescatori's stack had been dwindling for quite some time, but just now he managed to get his money in against Calvin Anderson. Anderson completed and Pescatori moved all in for an additional 21,000 chips.

Anderson called and two full boards were ran out on the table. Pescatori made a winning combo, but due to the dealer scooping all the cards up before we got them all we did not see them all. Anderson meanwhile takes another hit as he's been losing some chips for a while now.
