Benjamin Volpe raised to 25,000 in early position and Damon Sandor three-bet to 65,000 in the cutoff. Robbie Verspui re-raised to 120,000 on the button and Volpe got out of the way. Sandor stuck around however and went all in for 360,000 total. Verspui made the call and the players flipped their hands.

Verspui:
Sandor:

The board ran out       and provided no help to Sandor who was eliminated. The pot vaulted Verspui into the chip lead as the first player to crack the one million chip mark.

Glen Bertelson

Mitch Shock, for the second time today, moved all in. The first time he was in middle position and didn't receive any calls. This time, he made the move from early position and Scott Shelley not only decided to play, but moved all in over the top on the button. Glen Bertelson immediately made the call from the small blind and the three hands were turned up with Shock at risk.

Schock:
Shelley:
Bertelson:

The flop came     which gave Shelley a freeroll against Bertelson if it came back to back spades. The turn was the   though and without an Ace, King or Jack, Shelley and Bertelson would be splitting up Schock's chips. The river was the  , however, and Schock clapped and fist pumped his way to a 400,000 stack.

After the hand, Shelley was left with just 240,000 while Bertelson had only an ante left. Adding insult to injury, Bertelson was the one who finished him off. His    boated up on the    of Bertelson on a       board.

Mike Souza

We are back in the Amazon room where play is set to resume at 2:30 p.m. PST for the 27 players remaining in Event #34: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em. Michael Souza is leading the pack with 650,000 in chips and is looking for his first WSOP gold bracelet and the $488,283 that goes with it.

The only other player above the 600,000 chip mark is Robbie Verspui although Jeremy Kottler, Paulus Valkenburg, Justin Cohen and Alex Findlay each have over 500,000 in chips.

The plan is to play down to a winner within ten levels of play today. If a champion is not reached by then though, the remaining players will have to return the following day to play it out.

Play is about to get underway in around 20 minutes so stay tuned at PokerNews for all our updates on bustouts, crazy hands, bad beats, suckouts and more.
