Steve Landfish raised Alexander Kostritsyn's bring-in but the latter called before check-raising on fourth. Landfish called and then bet when Kostritsyn checked fifth, but the Russian called and made open queens on sixth, firing out and Landfish quickly folded.

Grospellier:    /      /
Troy:    /      /

Bertrand Grospellier completed and called after Maxwell Troy raised. Both players checked fourth and fifth until Troy bet on sixth and ElkY called. Troy bet seventh as well only to be met with a raise by ElkY which Troy called. He was shown bad news however as ElkY had     for a straight and the pot.

A little while after, the following hand occurred which grew ElkY's stack even more.

Grospellier:    /      /
Landfish:    /      /

ElkY completed again and Steve Landfish called. Alexander Kostritsyn came in with a raise which both other players called. On fourth, ElkY paired up and bet, Landfish called but Kostritsyn folded. ElkY bet the rest of the way with Landfish calling until seventh where he finally folded. ElkY was up to 900,000 after the hands.

Chad Brown

Somedays, it's just not meant to be. After losing those two big pots, Chad Brown was short stacked and put his final few chips in with exactly the same hand that Maxwell Troy called him with.

Troy:    /      /
Brown:    /      /

Brown had the lead up on sixth street but Troy managed to pair his deuce on seventh to make two pair, Brown bricked and was knocked out in 6th place as a result, nearly $58,000 richer.

Brown:    /      /
Grospellier:    /      /

Chad Brown had completed and Bertrand Grospellier made it two bets before Brown upped it to three bets. ElkY called and then called another bet on fourth before raising on fifth street. Brown called and then call ElkY's last 35,000 all in on sixth. Both showed two pair, aces up for Brown against the Frenchman's kings up plus a flush draw. ElkY drew first and made his flush but Brown could only pull a deuce to make three pair which wasn't enough.

Brown:    /      /
Hennigan:    /    FOLDED
Grospellier:    /      /
Troy:    /      /

John Hennigan had raised with his king and was called in three spots, it was checked to Bertrand Grospellier who bet on fourth, Maxwell Troy and Chad Brown both called and Hennigan folded. Brown fired out on fifth with both calling before he and Grospellier checked sixth when Troy made a three-flush. Troy now bet and both players called before everyone checked seventh.

Brown showed     for a missed flush draw and Troy took the pot down with     for a queen-high flush.

Kevin Tang

Landfish:    /      /
Tang:    /      /

Steve Landfish completed and then bet all the way with Tang calling until Tang was all in on sixth. Landfish was ahead with his pair of nines and Tang would need to hit a queen without Landfish improving or a six to win the pot. It wasn't meant to be however as Tang made a lower pair of eights and was eliminated as Landfish took back the lead.

Kostritsyn:    /      /   FOLDED
Troy:    /      /

Alexander Kostritsyn completed and called when Maxwell Troy raised. On the next two streets Kostritsyn bet and Troy called. On sixth Kostritsyn bet again but Troy raised. Kostritsyn called but check-folded on seventh as Troy won the pot.

The very next hand, Kostritsyn would win a fairly large pot though to more than double up.

Kostritsyn:    /      /
Hennigan:    /      /

Alexander Kostritsyn was all in and at risk against John Hennigan on fourth street. While Hennigan showed aces up, Kostritsyn was in a commanding lead with trip jacks. Hennigan didn't improve the rest of the way as Kostritsyn more than doubled while Hennigan took a hit.

About five or six hands in a row saw someone bring in, another person complete and everyone fold. It makes for fast hands but doesn't exactly help reporting wise. No boards have even gone past fifth street since the elimination, someone order these guys some shots.

If John Hennigan wins, this will be his third WSOP bracelet while all of the other players are looking for their first one. Hennigan's first was in the 2002 $2,000 H.O.R.S.E for $117,320 while his second came in the 2004 $5,000 Limit Hold'em for $325,000. First place in today's tournament is $331,639 and would slightly eclipse Hennigan's '04 win.

Since Chris Tryba's elimination, we haven't seen much action with not even a single hand going past fifth street. Maxwell Troy has chipped up the most since then though by taking down three consecutive pots at one point.

Chris Tryba

Troy:    /      /
Tryba:    /      /
Kostritsyn:    /   FOLDED

Maxwell Troy brought in on the very first hand on the final table, Chris Tryba completed and Alexander Kostritsyn called. Troy then made it two bets, Tryba made it three bets, Kostritsyn folded and Troy called. On fourth, Troy led out again and the pair got all their remaining chips in. Troy showed jacks and treys to Tryba's split kings but the latter somehow couldn't pair any of his other cards to survive and was first to go out on the final table.

Nick Schulman

With Nguyen's elimination, the floor decided that both remaining tables would merge to form a nine-handed final table which several players voiced their complaints about. However we would have our traditionally sized eight-handed Stud final table since we turned around and saw Nick Schulman also all in and at risk against Alexander Kostritsyn.

Much like Nguyen, it appeared as though Schulman had some sort of combo draw with an ace-high flush draw as well as a Broadway draw. Kostritsyn was ahead however with a pair of aces. And just like Nguyen, Schulman completely bricked the river and only held ace high at the end. Kostritsyn's pair was good to eliminate Schulman as the final table bubble boy and the players went on 20 minute break before they start up again in the "Thunderdome".

Men Nguyen

Nguyen:    /      /
Hennigan:    /      /

John Hennigan completed and called Men Nguyen's raise. Hennigan bet on fourth and Nguyen called. On fifth, Hennigan bet again only to get raised by Nguyen. Hennigan called and bet yet again on sixth. Nguyen raised and Hennigan re-raised which Nguyen called. On seventh, Hennigan bet one last time and Nguyen called. Hennigan showed     for a straight as Nguyen yelled "case ten" and showed     for trip tens. The hand crippled Nguyen down to 75,000 while Henningan catapulted into the lead with close to a million.

Shortly after, the follow hand occurred to eliminate Nguyen at the hands of his familiar foe Hennigan.

Hennigan:    /      /
Nguyen:    /      /

Nguyen called all-in on sixth with an ace-high flush draw and Broadway draw against the two pair of Hennigan. Nguyen completely bricked with his last card and the defending champ was eliminated. This means that there will be a new champion in this event as Hennigan moved across the one million chip mark.

Tryba:    /      /
Nguyen:    /

Tryba had completed on third and Nguyen raised him essentially all in which Tryba called. Neither player made anything until Tryba caught a pair of sixes on sixth but then didn't improve on seventh. Nguyen justed needed a spade, seven, ten, jack, queen or ace to eliminate him but managed to miss everything and Tryba doubled up.

Sorel Mizzi

Mizzi:    /      /
Kostritsyn:    /      /

After having just doubled, Sorel Mizzi called all-in against Alexander Kostritsyn on seventh. Kostritsyn turned over     for a pair of jacks and Mizzi couldn't produce better as he mucked and was eliminated. However the poker day wasn't done for him as he was on his way to the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout.

Sorel Mizzi brought in, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier completed, and Christopher George and Mizzi called. ElkY bet on fourth with both other players calling and bet again on fifth. George called but Mizzi raised and ElkY called as did George. On sixth, George who made queens went all in for 18,000 and the other two players called. On seventh, Mizzi checked-called ElkY's bet only to be shown the     of the Frenchman which gave ElkY a flush. Mizzi mucked as did George who was eliminated as Mizzi's stack took a hit and Elky's climbed.
