Hold'em:

In our first Victor Ramdin sighting of the day, the Team PokerStars Pro made it 30,000 to go before the flop and Michael Chow came along for the ride from the big blind.

Flop:

After a check by Chow, Ramdin fired 15,000 into the pot and Chow made the call. The turn fell   and both players checked, bringing the   on the river. Both players opted to tap the table and Chow showed down the    for middle pair. This was good enough to force a muck from Ramdin, and Chow chipped up to 595,000 after the hand.

Razz:

We caught up with the action as Adam Friedman and a short-stacked Scott Lake were playing a hand of razz. Lake was all in at some point in the hand and the players exposed their down cards.

Friedman: ( )( ) -      - (X)
Lake: ( ) ) -      - ( )

Friedman had caught nearly perfect to make a 6-5-4-3-2, and with his 7-4-3-2-A showing, Lake would need to spike a five or six to survive. When he squeezed his last down card on seventh street, Lake saw paint and immediately tossed the useless card high in the air in a show of disgust. Lake exited in 12th place while Friedman climbed to 910,000 chips.

The players have began wandering through the Amazon Room in search of bathrooms and snacks, as we have reached our first 20-minute break of the day.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 3:35 PM Local Time

Omaha-8:

After the flop fell    , Ron Ware checked, Scott Lake bet 24,000 and Ware came along. The turn card bought the   and Ware led out for 24,000, prompting Lake to raise it up to 48,000. Ware made the call and the river card came  . Both players opted to check and Ware revealed his      for top two pair.

Lake mucked his cards and was left with only 100,000 chips, while Ware climbed to over 650,000.

Hold'em:

We missed the preflop betting but Paolo Compagno got it all in on the turn with the board reading     . Adam Friedman decided to make the call, trying to eliminate the vulnerable Italian pro.

Friedman tabled the    and his flopped two pair appeared to be a strong holding, but Compagno had also flopped two pair with his   . After fading jacks on the turn and river, which came   and   respectively, Compagno had scored a much needed double up to 290,000. Friedman dropped to 710,000 after the loss but still holds a healthy stack.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 3:24 PM Local Time

Hold'em:

After a recent double up in a previous hand, Drew Boyett tried to keep the momentum going and got his last 34,000 in the pot before the flop. Both Ron Ware and Paolo Compagno made the call and Boyett would have to do double duty to survive this all-in confrontation.

Showdown:

Boyett:
Ware:
Compagno:

Boyett was actually not in bad shape with two live overcards against Compagno's pair of sixes in the hole, and when the flop fell     he had taken a tenuous lead in the hand. The turn of   changed little and Boyett would need to dodge a six, a queen, a nine, or a ten to survive.

River:

With that, Ware's pair of nines were best and Boyett was eliminated in 13th place. Compagno fell to 130,000 after the hand while Ware vaulted to just under 600,000 in chips.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 3:06 PM Local Time

Stud-8:

David Bach found himself all in on third street after calling a three-bet by Denis Ethier.

Bach: ( )( ) -      - ( )
Ethier: ( )( ) -      - ( )

After seventh street was delivered, the all-in Bach held an 8-7-4-2-A low but Ethier's 7-6-5-4-2 low and a pair of fives was good enough for the scoop. Bach was eliminated in 14th place while Ethier climbed to 225,000 after the hand.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 2:58 PM Local Time

Stud-8:

We missed the preliminary betting but caught up on a hand involving David Bach and Paolo Compagno.

Bach: (X)(X) -      - (X)
Compagno: (X)(X) -      - (X)

Compagno fired bets of 24,000 on fifth and sixth streets and Bach called both times. On seventh street, Compagno bet 24,000 more and Bach looked him up, showing down the     for two pair, nines and threes. Bach was beaten, however, by Compagno's     in the hole, which made a full house.

This hand crippled David Bach and left him with only 25,000 chips to attempt a comeback. Compagno built his stack to 330,000 with the victory.

Stud:

Josh Schlein found himself all in on third street against David Baker.

Schlein: (X)(X) -      - (X)
Baker: (X)(X) -      - (X)

After committing the rest of his chips with the    in the hole, Schlein watched as his board improved to a straight, but saw Baker was dealt consecutive queens on third, fourth, and fifth streets. Baker now needed only to pair one of his down cards to make a full house.

Unfortunately for Schlein, Baker did better than that with his   (X) hole cards, making an unbeatable hand of quad queens. Schlein was eliminated in 15th place, while Baker built his stack to just under 500,000 in chips.

Stud:

Tamayo: (X)(X) -      - (X)
Ware: (X)(X) -      - (X)

We missed the preliminary betting in this hand but Ware fired bets of 20,000 on fifth and sixth streets and Tamayo called both times. Both players checked on seventh street and Tamayo revealed his down cards:     for trip queens.

Despite four clubs on board, Ware could not produce a fifth club for a flush and Tamayo nearly doubled up on the hand, leaving him with 150,000 chips. Ware dropped to 410,000 after the loss but still maintains a healthy stack.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 2:30 PM Local Time

Omaha-8:

We caught the action before the flop as Ron Ware raised to 20,000 and Denis Ethier three-bet to 30,000. Ware made the call and the flop fell    . Ethier checked and Ware fired a bet of 10,000, which Ethier called. The turn fell the   and both players checked it.

River:

Ethier bet 20,000 and Ware raised it, making it 40,000 to go. This was enough to force the fold and Ware chipped up to 505,000 on the hand, while Etheir slumped to around 270,000 or so in chips.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 2:26 PM Local Time

Omaha-8:

On the small blind, Jonathan Tamayo raised to 20,000 and Michael Horowitz raised to 33,000 and all in from the big blind.

Showdown:

Tamayo:
Horowitz:

The board ran out       and Tamayo's runner-runner spade flush was enough to eliminate Horowitz in 16th place.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 2:19 PM Local Time

Stud-8:

We caught the action with Kevin Marcus all in against Denis Ethier in a hand of Stud-8.

Marcus: ( )( ) -      - (X)
Ethier: ( )( ) -      /-( )

We missed the preliminary betting but at some point Marcus committed his last few chips. Ethier squeezed his final down card on seventh street and revealed just a pair of deuces. Marcus had many high cards showing and could not make a low, but he could pair any of his cards to win the pot and survive his all-in confrontation.

We did not see what Marcus was dealt on seventh street, but apparently the dealer tossed him a brick because he soon departed the Amazon Room with a 17th-place finish.

Stud:

Scott Lake and Adam Friedman were spotted engaging in further combat over another hand of seven-card stud.

Lake: (X)(X) -      - (X)
Friedman: (X)(X) -      - (X)

On third street as Lake bet 10,000 and was reraised by Friedman. Lake responded with a four-bet and Friedman made the call. Friedman then led out for 20,000 bets on fourth, fifth, and sixth streets. On the last bet, Lake went into the tank for over three minutes before eventually deciding to muck his hand.

Friedman showed    for his down cards and after this hand he vaulted to over 560,000 in chips, while Lake sank to just under 240,000 on the day.

On third street Lake bet 10,000 and Friedman made the call. The action repeated itself on fourth street and both players checked on fifth street. On sixth street it was Friedman who bet 20,000 and this pressure forced a fold by Lake.

Day 3 of Event # 17, the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. tournament, will begin with 17 players looking to finish things off and claim the coveted gold bracelet that defines poker greatness. After a grueling two days of competition, each player can taste potential glory and will be leaving everything on the felt, as they try to prove that they have mastered five of poker's more complex disciplines.

Among the notable professionals still remaining in the field are PokerStars Team Pro Victor Ramdin and David Bach. Ramdin will be looking to capture his first World Series of Poker bracelet and cement his reputation as one of the most dangerous tournament players in the world. Bach has already etched his name in the poker history books with his victory in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E World Championship held at the 2009 WSOP. Winning another H.O.R.S.E. bracelet here today will confirm that Bach deserves to be mentioned along with the game's greatest mixed game players.

Our Day 3 field also has a decidedly international flair, with Paolo Compagno of Italy and Tristan Clemencon of France looking to continue the dominance shown by foreign players here at the 2011 WSOP. Check in with PokerNews.com for regular updates throughout the day as we play down to our table and crown a new H.O.R.S.E champion.
