We didn't catch the hand but the dealer was kind enough to fill us in. Neil Channing was all in with    on a flop of     against an opponent who held   .

Channing was in good shape to double up when the turn came  , but that suddenly changed when an ace hit the river. Channing was eliminated from the tournament on the hand.

The player in the hijack raised to 350 and the small blind made the call. Bernard Lee then shoved all in for 2,800 with   .

The hijack thought about it and made the call with   . The small blind got out of the way and Lee was racing for his tournament life.

The board ran out       and Lee more than doubled to 6,500.

In a recent hand Scott Montgomery raised to 400 from early position. Action folded around to the blinds who both released after a moment's hesitation.

Montgomery, the former November Niner who won last week's $1,000 tournament, is sitting with 5,800 and looking to defend his title.

We have only gotten through three and a half hours of play and already 659 players have busted from the tournament, leaving us with 1,100. That means we are losing an average of 3.13 players per minute up to this point.

When we arrived at the table Neil Channing was all in against one opponent. Channing tabled aces and his opponent tabled pocket nines.

The       board gave a set of nines to Channing's opponent, and the Britt lost half of his stack. Channing is now down to 3,000 chips.

Chau Giang had his opponent in Seat 4 all in on a flop of    . Seat 4 showed    and was apparently on a bluff. Giang had him in bad shape with   .

The   on the turn gave Giang the pot and increased his stack to around 3,500. Seat 4 was officially eliminated when the   was put out on the river for good measure.

The tournament officials have announced that Day 1A started with 1,759 players. The tournament clock says 2,235, but that number includes any player that preregistered for Day 1B.

In a field already scarce with notables, some of the biggest names in the tournament have busted. Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Billy Baxter and Gavin Griffin have all hit the rail.

There have been a few new names that have popped up including Kelly Kim, JJ Liu, Chris Ferguson and Keith Sexton.

With 600 chips already in the pot the flop ran out    . Leo Margets checked in the big blind, A player in middle position fired a 450-chip bet and another one in late position re-popped it to 1,200. Margets moved all in for an additional 625 chips, the initial raiser folded and the player in late position called.

As been his M.O. at the tables, Antonio Esfandiari has engaged his tablemates in a friendly game of "What Johnny Lodden Thinks." We're not sure what the most recent question was, or the stakes, but we witnessed the player in Seat 1 ask the dealer for a pen so he could write down his answer.
