Stud-8

Scotty Nguyen, Al Barbieri, and Brandon Adams all walked into a bar. We mean Scotty, Al, and Brandon were all involved in big stud-8 hand, and Nguyen was out of money on fourth. Barbieri bet on fifth, and Adams raised. Sugar Bear called all in, and Adams had a chance to score a double knockout. He had to settle for just one, though, as Nguyen made a ten-high flush to take the high. Adams' six-low was good for the other half of the pot. Barbieri held  , which couldn't beat anything. He was dispatched in 22nd place.

Nguyen and Adams split Barbieri's chips, moving Scotty up to 85k and Adams to 220k.

Hold'em

Action folded to Allen Kessler in the small blind, and he looked down at  . Kessler got all his chips in the middle against big blind Brian Townsend, who held  . The   flop was fine for Chainsaw, but the   on the turn was enough to fell him. The   river was no help, and Kessler is the day's first casualty.

Friday, June 25, 2010 2:21 PM Local Time

As we arrived to the table, Steve Billirakis led the betting on sixth street with Carlos Mortensen making the call before Brandon Adam announced a raise. Billirakis called all in for his last chips, and Mortensen made the call also.

On the river, Mortensen checked and Adams fired a bet into the side pot, but Mortensen released.

Billirakis: (  ) /      / ( )

Mortensen: (X-X) /      / (X)

Adams: (  ) /      / ( )

Billirakis was rolled up and filled up as he showed a full house to take the main pot. Adams also had a full house but it was only good for the side pot.

Billirakis triples up to 245,000, with Adams at 150,000 and Mortensen at 325,000

Stud-8

Scott Fischman surged ahead, scooping a huge stud pot.

Brian Townsend: (X-X) /   / (X)

John Hennigan: (X-X) /

Richard Ashby: (X-X) /

Scott Fischman: (X-X) /   / (X)

We caught up with the action when Richard Ashby led with a bet on fourth. The other three called, and when Townsend bet out on fifth, Hennigan and Ashby gave up. Townsend check-called sixth and seventh and saw he'd been calling down with the worst of it when Fischman turned over   for two pair and an eight-low. He moved up to 610k while Townsend fell to 550k.

Stud-8

The short stacks are fighting back early here on day three. Scotty Nguyen and Al Barbieri were both all in against Carlos Mortensen, but Nguyen made a flush to take the high while Barbieri showed a low to collect half.

Nguyen is at 65,000 with Barbieri a little more comfortable with 100,000.

Stud-8

John Hennigan: (X-X) /   (X)

Allen Kessler: (X-X) /   (X)

John Hennigan raised, and Allen Kessler three-bet to put Johnny World all in. He called, turning up   to go with his  . Kessler showed   for split aces. Kessler made aces-up on sixth, but Hennigan picked up a fifth heart as his last card to double through the Chainsaw with a flush. Henningan is up to 130,000 while Kessler is stuck with 45,000.

The cards are now in the air. Most of the players have taken their seats, but we do have a couple of tardy players. We'll be starting things off with Stud-8.

Welcome back to the Rio Hotel and Casino for our continued coverage of the 2010 World Series of Poker. It's day three of Event #43: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship and once again we've got a stacked field who are ready to return to the felt and battle it out for the title.

It was a dramatic end to the day last night as Cyndy Violette and Tommy Hang both busted on the same hand at around 3:30am, to burst the extended bubble and jump us into the money.

The affects of the 90-minute bubble will be felt here this afternoon. While we were always expecting a long day three in this event, we're now one full level and a couple of eliminations behind schedule before we even start. The bubble was also hugely advantageous to the big stacks as Cuong Do, Marco Johnson and Brian Townsend flexed their muscle, while the likes of Scotty Nguyen, John Hennigan, Abe Mosseri and Al Barbieri should be right in the thick of the action at the start of the day, as they look to double up or die trying.

Play will resume at 3pm and after some early fireworks, play should settle into a groove that takes us into the wee hours of tomorrow morning. So sit back, relax and grab yourself a coffee or two as we look to crown a new WSOP bracelet winner!
