Omaha-8

In a battle of the blinds, small blind Phil Ivey raised pre-flop and was called by the big blind and chip leader, Bill Chen. Ivey fired out a bet after the flop came down       and fired again on the   turn. Chen called each time to see the   hit the river. Both players checked. Chen showed down two pair, aces and queens,        , to scoop the pot.

Chen is now sitting behind 1,350,000. Ivey is hanging tough at about 580,000.

Omaha-8

Twice, Albert Hahn ran into a flopped set. Twice, he rivered a low to chop the pot. First he raised pre-flop and was called by Jeff Lisandro in the small blind. Lisandro bet the       flop and the   turn. When Hahn called each time and the river came  , Lisandro slowed down. He checked, then called one bet with        , a set of kings. Hahn showed         for the nut low and a pair of sevens. Chop it up.

The next hand, Hahn again raised from middle position. He was called by Phil Ivey out of the big blind. Ivey got in a check-raise on a flop of      , then bet the   turn and the   river. Hahn called every time, tabling       for a pair of aces and the second nut-low. Ivey turned over         for a set of treys. Again, chop it up.

Omaha-8

After going on a tear about an hour ago, Phil Ivey has been sitting back for roughly the last 30 minutes of play. He limped into an omaha pot from middle position and took a flop of       with only the blinds, John Juanda and Jeff Lisandro. Juanda and Lisandro checked to Ivey, then folded for a single bet.

Ivey has about 720,000 in chips.

Omaha-8

John Juanda came into this final table as the chip leader, but his stack is down to about 310,000 -- almost 600,000 off its high point -- after losing a small pot to Dave Baker. Baker raised in early position pre-flop, with action folding to Juanda's big blind. He called, and then check-called a bet on a flop of      . Juanda also checked the   turn, then folded to another bet by Baker.

Baker has about 380,000 chips now.

Hold'em

Finally, a short-stacked player has busted off of this star-studded final table. Chad Brown raised from the cutoff pre-flop. Bill Chen, sitting in the big blind, was the only caller.

Both players checked the       flop. When the turn came a small heart,  , Chen led out. Brown raised all in for 87,000 total and Chen quickly called. It turned out that both players were drawing. Chen had a straight draw with    ; Brown had the best hand and a flush draw with    . Neither player made their main draw, but Chen paired sixes on the river with the   to collect the pot.

Brown leaves with $29,406.

Hold'em

Bill Chen, the new chip leader, raised from early position pre-flop. Action passed to Jeff Lisandro, who put in the third bet. Everyone else folded back to Chen, who called to a flop of      . Chen check-called a bet there, check-called another on the   turn, and then checked the   river. Lisandro fired one last bet. Chen, shaking his head, called and then mucked when Lisnadro showed     for queens full of nines.

The players have reached the next scheduled break.

Hold'em

Bill Chen has propelled himself to 1.2 million in chips on the backs of aces. He raised the cutoff pre-flop and was called by big blind John Juanda. Juanda check-called a bet on a flop of      , then led into Chen when the turn came  . Chen called to the river  , where Juanda fired again. Chen executed a raise, inducing Juanda to make a crying call with the worst hand. Chen turned up     for two pair, aces and fours, to drag the pot.

Juanda is down to about 410,000.

Stud-8

Brown: X-X /       FOLD

Chen: X-X /         / X

Juanda: X-X /       FOLD

Lisandro: X-X /         / X

We haven't heard much from Bill Chen since the players collapsed to the nine-handed table. He was involved in a four-way pot with Chad Brown, John Juanda and Jeff Lisandro. On fifth street, Chen bet the high board, inducing folds from Juanda and Brown and a call from Lisandro. Both players checked sixth and seventh streets.

At showdown, Chen's       in the hole made aces and jacks. Lisandro flashed two buried kings for a final hand of two pair, kings and tens, and then mucked.

Chen is the new chip leader with 970,000.

Stud-8

Hahn: X-X /         / X

Juanda: X-X /         / X

Lisandro: X-X /         / X

The stacks are swinging up and down pretty wildly at the moment, as the split-pot games generate lots of action. Jeff Lisandro is the most recent beneficiary of that action. He raised third street after Albert Hahn's bring-in was completed by John Juanda. Hahn and Juanda both called.

On fourth street, Hahn's ace had the betting lead. He led out and was called by Juanda and Lisandro in turn. It was Juanda's turn to lead on fifth street, with an open pair of fives. He bet and was raised by Lisandro. Hahn called two cold before Juanda re-raised. That was enough to put Lisandro all in. Hahn also called.

The two live players, Hahn and Juanda were betting on the side on sixth street. Juanda fired a bet that Hahn called. Both players checked the river, taking us to the reveal. Hahn showed       for nines and fours with no low; Juanda showed     and a third card for kings and fives with no low. Juanda collected the whole side pot.

For the main pot, Juanda's kings and fives were bested by Lisandro's      , aces and tens. Lisandro dragged the whole main pot to triple up to 760,000.

Stud-8

At the 20,000 and 40,000 level, Jeff Lisandro was all in for only 4,000 of the 5,000-chip ante. He won back-to-back all in's to climb out of the gutter, then peaked at a high of 450,000. He's slipped back to 225,000 now after being scooped by Ken Aldridge.

Lisandro brought it in on third street, then called on fourth and fifth streets. On sixth street, Aldridge checked to Lisandro, who fired a bet with four low cards on board. Aldridge gave the decision about forty seconds of thought before calling.

That call was the last action of the hand. Both players checked the river, with Aldridge turning up       in the hole for trip fives. That beat Lisandro for the high half, and neither player had a qualifying low. Aldridge scooped the whole pot.

Aldridge: X-X /         / X

Brown: X-X /         / X

Hahn: X-X /         / X

Chad Brown's the short stack now but that didn't stop him from mixing it up with Ken Aldridge and Albert Hahn in a three-way hand of stud split. Aldridge completed third street and was called by Brown and Hahn. Hahn had the lead every street thereafter and bet it, with Aldridge and Brown both calling in turn.

On sixth street, Brown could have closed the action with a call but instead raised. Hahn and Aldridge both called to the river, where Hahn again led out. That bet folded Aldridge, but Brown called.

"Flush and a low," said Hahn. Disbelief flashed across Brown's face, but when Hahn turned up his hand he realized he didn't have a low at all! He opened       for a spade flush with no low. Brown showed down      , a straight-8, to nab the low half of the pot.

Stud-8

Brown:     /         /

Baker:     /         /

Dave Baker needed a boost at this final table. He's found it very early, courtesy of Chad Brown. Brown completed third street, then was the only player to call Baker's raise. Baker bet the lead on fourth street, then bet after Brown checked the lead on fifth street. By sixth street Baker was all in. He tabled two pair, sixes and deuces, against a pair of fives for Brown. No sweat for Baker this time around -- Brown bricked the river.

Baker is up to 325,000. Brown is down to about 275,000.

Monday, June 21, 2010 9:34 PM Local Time

If you think this line-up isn't tough, you probably haven't been around poker very long. There are five bracelet winners at this final table: Phil Ivey (7), Bill Chen (2), Ken Aldridge (1), John Juanda (3, and one WSOP-E bracelet) and Jeff Lisandro (4). The player who bubbled the final table, Ryan Hughes, has 2 bracelets.

Then there's Chad Brown, who has five Top 4 WSOP finishes, including three runner-up finishes, and Dave Baker, who has been having a spectacular 2010 WSOP and is gunning for his first bracelet after four previous cashes and one final table appearance.

The odd man out is Albert Hahn, who seems to have no previous tournament results.

Cards are back in the air. Thirty minutes remain in the level.

Stud-8

Kenneth Aldridge was the bring in before Ryan Hughes completed. Jeff Lisandro called as did Chad Brown. On fourth street, play checked to Hughes who moved all in for his last 14,000.

Lisandro then called the floor and asked for a ruling as to who would receive what place if both players were eliminated on the same hand. Once he learnt that it comes down to chip counts at the start of the hand, Lisandro made the call. Brown and Aldridge also made the call.

On fifth street Lisandro led out with a bet with both live players calling, before his last chips were in on sixth against Aldridge as Brown stepped aside.

Aldridge: (  ) /      / ( )

Hughes: (  ) /      / ( )

Lisandro: (  ) /      / ( )

Brown: (X-X) /

When all was said and done, Aldridge's two pair weren't enough to challenge Lisandro's straight as he took both the high and the low in the side pot. Hughes had a river squeeze to try and fill up but it wasn't to be as Lisandro scooped the lot as he gave a double fist pump to his rail.

Hughes is eliminated in 9th place for a collect of $22,849. The players are now taking a quick break before the "official" final table commences.

Phil Ivey completed the betting on third street with John Juanda making the call. Ivey led on fourth, before Juanda check-called on fifth. On sixth street Juanda led out and again on seventh, with Ivey calling him down.

Ivey: (X-X-X) /

Juanda: (   ) /

Juanda caught two pair on sixth and then filled up on the river to collect the pot as Ivey tossed his cards into the muck.

Ivey is back into the pack with 760,000 as Juanda is up to 820,000.

Phil Ivey raised it up on third street with Chad Brown making the call. Brown led the betting on fourth and fifth streets, before Ivey paired up on sixth. Ivey led out with a bet but Brown responded with a raise. Ivey called, but then check-folded the river as Brown took it down.

Ivey: (X-X) /      / (X)

Brown: (X-X) /      / (X)

Ivey slips back to 950,000 as Brown recovers to 620,000.

Stud

Over to stud now, and a raising war broke out on third street between Chad Brown and Albert Hahn, with the last of Hahn's chips in on fifth street. The boards ran out:

Brown: (  ) /      / ( )

Hahn: (  ) /      / ( )

Both players made two pair but it was Hahn's aces and treys that were good for the double up. He's up to 350,000 with Brown back to 325,000.

Razz

Jeff Lisandro was the bring-in and he called the completion of Chad Brown. Brown led on fourth with Lisandro calling. On fifth, Lisandro caught better and decided to commit his last chips. Brown wasn't pleased with his hand as he let it go.

Lisandro: (X-X) /

Brown: (X-X) /

Lisandro virtually doubles without showdown. He's up to 190,000 with Brown back to 455,000.

Monday, June 21, 2010 8:47 PM Local Time

Razz

John Juanda completed and Phil Ivey made the call. Juanda bet out on fourth, before Ivey check-called on fifth. Ivey took the lead on sixth when Juanda's board paired up and Juanda released.

Ivey: (X-X) /

Juanda: (X-X) /

Ivey is now up to 1.16 million (yes, you read that correctly) with Juanda back to 690,000.
