Castelli Wins a Big Early One With a Full House
Action was caught on the river . The pot had balooned to 16,000, before Mitzi Castelli bet 5,000 on the river from the small blind.
Kelly Williams, who was in middle position, went into the tank, thinking for a couple of minutes before putting in the call. Castelli turned over for the flopped set and turned full house, and Williams mucked. She later said she had trip queens.

Feitosa Makes A Huge First Hand
Daniele Feitosa had quite the opening hand to her event. Action was caught on the turn of and Michelle Richey bet 800 from the small blind. Feitosa raised to 2,600 and Richey, after some thinking, folded.
Freitosa turned over for flopped set of aces and said this was her first hand. Richey said she also had an ace, but her instincts were strongly telling her to fold.

Ladies Assemble! The $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championionship Starts Today

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.
Today sees the start of Event #71: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
This four-day event gets underway at 12 p.m. local time, with late registration open for eight levels, each spanning an hour. There will be 20-minute breaks every two levels, with a 60-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6 (~6:40 p.m.)
The starting stack is 20,000 chips, with the plan for Day 1 to play ten 60-minute levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 12 p.m. local time Saturday and plays another ten levels. Day 3 begins at 12 p.m. local time Sunday, playing down to five ladies. Those five potential bracelet winners will return to their seats at a yet-to-be-determined time on Day 4, Monday.
Tamar Abraham is the reigning champion, having outlasted 1,294 opponents to capture her first bracelet and a career-best $192,167 prize.
