Rivered Set Costly For Black Against Foxen

With around 75,000 already in the middle and a completed board showing      , Alex Foxen bet 47,000 from the button and action went on William Black under the gun.

"I don't think I wanted that nine. I just call," Black said, tossing in the chips and turning over    for the rivered set. Foxen, though, had    for a straight to take down the pot.

Ramdin Finds a Fold

Victor Ramdin opened from middle position and received calls from a player in the small blind as well as Sergio Aido in the big blind.

Action checked to Ramdin on a flop of     and he continued for 8,000. The small blind called while Aido folded to send the two remaining players heads-up to the turn.

The small blind checked for a second time following the   turn and then called after Ramdin fired a second barrel of 12,000.

The   river saw the small blind take over the betting lead by making it 35,000 to go. Ramdin considered his options for some time but did find a fold to take a relatively minor hit to his still big stack.

MacDowall Makes his Move

PokerNews was waved over to a table to be made aware of a monster hand that just took place:

There was an open to 5,000 from the under-the-gun player and four players made the call to go five ways to a flop of    .

The action then checked all the way through the turn   and went to the river   where Jeffrey Shapiro led out for 5,000.

One player made the call but then Ross MacDowall raised to 37,000, to which Shapiro responded by clicking it back to 80,000.

The other players quickly got out of the way and MacDowall then moved all in for 270,000 and Shapiro snap-called.

Shapiro flipped over    for a flopped full house of eights full of tens but it was no match for the    of MacDowall for an even bigger boat of tens full of eights.

Shapiro sat there stunned as a large portion of his stack was separated from him and pushed in MacDowall's direction.

Kyte Makes a Big Fold as Quattlebaum and Kyburz Squabble

Aubrey Kyburz raised from early position and John Quattlebaum flat-called from the button. Jon Kyte sat in the big blind and made a three-bet to 40,000, after which Kyburz jammed all in, covering both Quattlebaum's 200,000 stack and Kyte's smaller one.

Quattlebaum then called and Kyte looked at his cards with a grimace on his face. He spent a while thinking over his decision before ultimately folding his    face up. Thereafter, the other two hands were also tabled.

It turned out Kyte made a good laydown as he would have been dominated by Quattlebaum's kings. The board ran out low with       and Quattlebaum received a big double-up as a result, while Kyburz is also still in the plus on the day.

Trips for Zhu

A player in cutoff raised to 8,000, finding Shengchao Zhu in the big blind who defended.

On a flop of    , Zhu check-called a bet of 7,500 from his opponent.

The   turn checked through to the   on the river. Zhu took the lead with a bet of 17,000. After some time in the tank, the cutoff eventually made the call.

Zhu tabled    for rivered trips, earning him this pot.

Popular rapper Hoodie Allen, who abandoned his stack on Day 2abc to fly across the country for his friend's wedding, returned to Las Vegas on Sunday for Day 3 of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, and abruptly busted minutes later when his pocket aces were cracked.

Allen, whose real name is Steven Markowitz, had the attention of the poker community, with many wondering whether he would make it back in time when play resumed.

Silver Grabs a Pot from Kido

In blind versus blind pot, the flop read    when Lindsay Kido check-called Nate Silver for 8,000.

Both checked on the   turn and   showed up on the river. Kido checked one last time and Silver bet 12,000. Kido called but only to muck after Silver tabled    for a pair of queens.

Grospellier Doubles Through Rodriguez

Roberto Rodriguez raised from early position and action folded to a short-stacked Bertrand Grospellier on the button, who shoved for his last 20,500. It was folded back to Rodriguez, who called after getting a count to put Grospellier at risk.

Zambas Shoves on Puustinen

Heads-up on a board of     , Haris Zambas bet 27,000 from early position before Henri Puustinen, in the big blind, raised to 60,000.

Zambas called and they saw the   fall on the river. Puustinen now checked and Zambas moved all in.

Puustinen, with around 210,000 remaining, tanked for about a minute before folding.

Nicholas Rigby opened to 10,000 from middle position and Nicholas Lee defended from the big blind.

Both players checked the     flop. On the   turn Lee check-called a 20,000 bet from Rigby.

Both players checked the   river. Lee tabled    for a flopped straight draw that turned into a rivered pair of twos and collected a small pot from Rigby using his signature hand against him.

A player in the big blind bet 13,000 on the     flop. Scott Berko, in late position, then reraised to 35,000.

Berko's opponent took several moments before three-betting to 70,000. All eyes turned back towards Berko, who contemplated his next move. Berko moved all in, and his opponent instantly folded.

The Sun Shines on Yedalian

Brandon Sunshine was in the hijack and bet for an unseen amount on a board of     . Sevag Yedalian was on the button and made the call, and the two had now created a pot of over 100,000.

The   river was anti-climatic, however, as both players now checked. Sunshine tabled    for just queen-high and Yedalian showed    for a pair of eights in response. Yedalian raked in a nice pot and he plays almost double the average.

Delaisla Shows Trips

Delaisla opened to 8,000 and the cutoff called, followed by Eduardo Delaisla on the button.

The flop revealed     and Hidaka checked to the cutoff who bet 17,000. Only Delaisla made the call.

On the   turn, the cutoff checked to Delaisla who sent 33,000 in the middle. The cutoff quickly folded and Delaisla tabled a   for trips.

Blumstein Calls Correctly Against D'Angelo

Scott Blumstein raised to 8,000 from middle position and was called by Ryan D'Angelo on the button.

Both players checked on the     flop and Blumstein checked again on the   turn — prompting a 12,000 bet from D'Angelo. Blumstein called.

The   completed the board and Blumstein checked once more. D'Angelo fired 38,000 into the middle, which sent Blumstein deep into the tank.

Blumstein eventually called and D'Angelo indicated that he was good. Blumstein tabled    for tens and eights and D'Angelo mucked — conceding the pot to Blumstein.

Aziz Catches Garcia Bluffing

Heads-up on a board of     , Ryan Garcia bet 10,000 from the big blind and Renan Aziz called in early position.

The river came the   and Garcia fired out another 32,000. Aziz spent some time in the tank before throwing in a call as Garcia tapped the felt and showed    for a busted draw. Aziz had    for a pair of eights to win the pot.

Despite dropping that pot, Garcia is still sitting on around 450,000, a vast improvement from late on Day 2 when he had just 7,000. Austin Yoo at the same table currently has 664,000.

Bohlman Gets Picked Off

Picking up the action on the flop, Scott Bohlman in the cutoff was involved in a hand with a player in middle position. With the board reading     action checked to Bohlman and he fired off 10,000. His opponent made the call.

Both players checked through the   turn to the   river at which point the middle position player checked once more. Bohlman decided to go for the overbet, pushing 50,000 into a pot of around 40,000. That sizing appeared to make his opponent uncomfortable but the middle position player did eventually find a call. Bohlman could only muster    for the missed straight draw, falling to the    of his opponent.

The board was already showing      when Yu Tang bet 40,000 from the blinds and Kirk Steele made the call.

Kessler Eliminates Nash With a Playable Hand

Robert Nash raised to 8,500 from middle position and Allen Kessler three-bet to 23,500 from the next seat over. The action folded back to Nash, who jammed all in for 75,000 chips, and Kessler made the call.

Nash would flop a Broadway draw on    , but the necessary jack remained absent on the    runout.

Nash was eliminated while Kessler almost doubled up.
