PN Podcast: Daniel Negreanu Talks 2023 WSOP & Poker Hall of Fame

On the latest PokerNews Podcast episode, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen continue The Chad & Jesse Poker Show straight from the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

They are joined by none other than Daniel Negreanu, who took a break from his busy summer schedule to talk about a plethora of topics including what it's been like running deep in the lower buy-in, big field events, interacting with fans, and how he feels about his performance thus far.

Negreanu also offers his thoughts on the Poker Hall of Fame, including who he thinks will get in and the changes he'd like to see moving forward. Finally, "Kid Poker" offers his prediction for the 2023 WSOP Main Event, which is also the first big topic discussed by the hosts.

Chad and Jesse then do a new "Calling the Clock" segment in which they offer quick two-minute dialogues for topics on "The Board."

Shiina Okamoto opened in the cutoff to 250,000 with    and Tara Cain saw    in her hands in the small blind and just called. Tamar Abraham three-bet to 720,000 in the big blind, holding    and it folded back to Cain who announced all in for a total stack worth 1,545,000.

After some thinking, Abraham made the call to see she had the dominated hand.

The board brought some hopes for a double to cain with     , but an   showed up on the river to give the win to Abraham and bust Cain.

Cain, who finished in 6th place of the WSOP Ladies Event in 2018, has now accomplished another deep run with a 5th place finish for a prize of $34,679.

Okamoto Versus Abraham

Tamar Abraham raised from the hijack to 240,000. Shiina Okamoto flat called on the button and Suzanne Malavet also came along to see the flop.

The flop came     and everyone checked.

The turn   brought out a bet from Abraham of 175,000 after a check from Malavet. Okamoto had other ideas and raised quickly to 475,000, Abraham made the call and Malavet folded.

The river was the   and Abraham checked and Okamoto bet 1,100,000. Abraham took a moment to decide and then called. Okamoto flipped over    for the set and Abraham flipped over    for the pair of tens.

Okamoto's rail went wild as she won some chips back from Abraham.
