Clements Calls Off With a Ten

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Ian Steinman had already managed to double up during the No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw round when he made a 10 before Scott Clements got the rest of his chips in the middle.

Ryutaro Suzuki opened to 50,000 and Clements called on the button, as did Steinman in the big blind.

Steinman took two, while Clements and Suzuki both drew one. Suzuki now fired out 150,000 and Clements called for his last 142,000. Steinman folded.

"Nines," Suzuki said as he tabled   .

Clements tapped the felt and prepared to make his exit before realizing Suzuki meant he had a pair of nines. Clements instead turned over a 10-8 as he doubled up.

Bruschi Scores Huge Double Through Estes

Renan Bruschi raised to 55,000 in middle position and got a call from Michael Estes on the button.

Bruschi patted while Estes drew one.

Bruschi checked and Estes put out a bet of 175,000. Bruschi then counted down his chips and moved them in, to the tune of 625,000.

Estes didn't love it but he made the call.

Kevin Martin snapped a video from the table he was at, which he shared on Twitter Thursday, of what just might be the craziest hand played thus far at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

The hand involved four premium pocket pairs and took place on Day 1 of Event #37: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em. PokerNews' live reporting team was also at the table to record the wild action.

Scott Clements bet on fifth street and was called by both Ryutaro Suzuki and Anatolii Zyrin. All three players checked on sixth.

Suzuki bet on seventh before Clements raised. Zyrin tanked for a moment before calling. Suzuki then put in a reraise and Clements called.

Zyrin got out of the way and Suzuki turned over     for quads. Clements showed his    for the nut flush as Suzuki took down the massive pot to open up a big chip lead.

After Yueqi Zhu raised to 47,000 under the gun and got a call from Walter Chambers on the button, Per Hildebrand made it 160,000 to go from the big blind.

Both players called and a big pot was brewing, with Zhu only holding 155,000 behind.

On the     flop, Hildebrand led for 200,000, Zhu called off his stack, and after some thought, Chambers also called.

The turn was the   and after Hildebrand now checked, Chambers moved all in for about 650,000. Hildebrand folded and he had Zhu at risk.

The river   couldn't save Zhu as Chambers cracked his aces to win a huge pot and move up toward the chip lead.

Following a raise to 40,000 in the small blind from Walter Chambers, Allan Le moved all in from the big blind for 175,000. Chambers called to put Le at risk.

Barfield Gets New Life

Andrew Barfield raised in the cutoff before Tamon Nakamura reraised on the button. Barfield called and drew two, while Nakamura took one.

Nakamura now bet and Barfield called. He took one more, while Nakamura patted and bet again.

Barfield, with only a few chips remaining, tanked for about a minute and checked what game was coming up next before calling for most of his stack. He stood pat and Nakamura now drew one.

Both players checked and Barfield showed a 9-8. Nakamura flashed a jack as he mucked.

After a raise from Shawn Buchanan in the hijack and a call from Justin Liberto in the cutoff, Anatolii Zyrin three-bet to 120,000 on the button. Both opponents folded to send the pot to Zyrin.

In the following hand, Liberto raised to 33,000 in the hijack, and Zyrin again three-bet, this time from the cutoff to 80,000. Liberto again folded and Zyrin added ver 100,000 chips without seeing a flop.

After Allan Le raised in the hijack, a short-stacked Ian Steinman three-bet from the small blind.

Le called and then drew one after Steinman stood pat. Steinman bet, leaving himself just 14,000 chips behind and Le called.

Steinman again patted and Le drew one. Steinman put his last bet in and got another call from Le.

Steinman remained pat while Le needed a card still.
