Barriocanal Flops the Nuts

Nikolaos Angelou raised from the button and Daniel Barriocanal defended his big blind.

With both players now looking at a board of     the hand checked through to the   on the turn. On this card, Barriocanal stepped up the aggression and took the lead for what looked like just over a million. Angelou called.

The river came the   and Barriocanal continued for another street, this time for approximately 2,500,000. After some time, Angelou called and was delivered the bad news; Barriocanal tabled    for a flopped nut straight. Angelou mucked.

Reis' Aggressive Line Gets the Job Done

Daniel Barriocanal raised the button to 650,000 finding a caller in the big blind from Rafael Reis.

Both players went to a flop of    . Reis check-raised a continuation bet from Barriocanal of 625,000 to 2,000,000. Barriocanal chose to see a turn.

The   came and Reis continued his strong line and bet out for a hefty 3,500,000. Barriocanal spent some time in the tank and settled on a fold. The Brazilian rail continued to grow.

Grant Wang was in the small blind shoving all in for his last 4,500,000 attacking the big blind of Daniel Barriocanal. Barriocanal woke with a hand more than good enough to call and the cards went on their backs.

Herzali Bests Reis on the River

Rafael Reis raised on the button to 550,000. Sarah Herzali in the big blind defended and the flop came    . With only small cards on the board, Herzali opted to lead from the big blind for 400,000. Reis called.

The turn came the   and both players checked through to the   on the river, pairing the board.

After the turn checked through, Herzali now chose to take charge, leading again for 400,000. Reis folded and she claimed yet another pot.

Monnette Finds the Much Needed Double

Daniel Barriocanal in the small blind-eyed up the short stack of John Monnette in the big and decided to apply maximum pressure putting him to the test for his tournament life. Monnette woke up with a monster and called off Barriocanal's shove. The cards were tabled.

Herzali Extends Chip Lead

Sarah Herzali raised from middle position to 500,000 and Nikolaos Angelou called in the big blind.

The board came     and both players checked through to the   on the turn.

The next street followed the same line and both players arrived at the   on the river. Angelou checked one more time and Herzali bet out for 1,000,000 prompting a swift fold from Angelou. This pot extended her chip lead and her large rail continued to cheer her on.

Herzali Takes From Wang

Sarah Herzali limped in from the small blind and Grant Wang checked his option from the big blind.

The flop was     and Herzali bet what looked like 650,000. Wang called and the turn was  .

Herzali continued for 375,000 on the turn and Wang called again. The river was  .

Both players checked the river and Herzali turned over   . The flush was good to take the pot and Wang sent the losing hand into the muck.

Kevin Choi

Kevin Choi and Nikolaos Angelou wound up in a big preflop conformation getting both stacks in the middle as Choi ran his pocket jacks into the ace-king of Angelou. An ace on the turn left Choi so short that he was forced all in by the big blind the very next hand.

Nikolaos Angelou opened from the button to 200,000 and Daniel Barriocanal in the small blind called putting Choi at risk.

Both players checked the hand through to the river as the full board read      . Angelou tabled    beating both Barriocanal and Choi. Choi was sent to the rail in 8th place.

Straight Flush for Herzali

Daniel Barriocanal raised on the button to 360,000 and Sarah Herzali in the big blind defended.

The flop came     which checked through to the   on the turn. Herzali check-called a bet of 650,000 from Barriocanal and they went to the river.

The   landed and Herzali checked once more and unfortunately for her, Barriocanal checked behind. Herzali announced she'd rivered a straight flush.

"You win!" Barriocnal laughed as he mucked his cards.

Sure enough, Herzali showed the    for a rivered straight flush.

Hohner Calls Monnette

Action was heads up with a big pot in the middle and       on the board when John Monnette bet 740,000 and Ryan Hohner went into the tank. After a few minutes to consider his options, Hohner slid out the chips to call. Monnette turned over    to take the pot with tens and eights and Hohner sent the losing hand into the muck.

Nikolaos Angelou opened on the button to 325,000. Ian Matakis, who was short in the big blind, chose to defend leaving himself approximately 350,000 behind.

The flop came     and Matakis checked the action to Angelou who bet out for 160,000, Matakis shoved all in for the remainder of his stack and Angelou put in the extra chips for a call.

Yue Liu was in the small blind as he open jammed his last 1,040,000 into the middle. Grant Wang in the big blind asked for a count and quickly called.

Grant Wang opened before Gabriel Schroeder shoved around 1,000,000. Ryan Hohner jammed with more from the blinds and Wang got out of the way. Action was heads up with Schroeder at risk.
