Dirksen Gets a Shove Through; Boyd Doubles Through Eveslage

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Ryan Goindoo raised to 40,000 on the button and Zack Freeman three-bet to 160,000 in the small blind. Chip leader Dustin Dirksen then moved all-in from the big blind and Goindoo folded, while Freeman was stunned for a second.

"No Limit Deuce they call it, baby" Dirksen exclaimed. Freeman mulled it over for a minute and folded.

Right after that hand had concluded on the other table, Dutch Boyd on the button and Chad Eveslage in the big blind got into a raising war with the former at risk preflop for 419,000.

The     flop gave Boyd plenty of outs to scoop and the   turn was among those. He still had many outs to dodge as Eveslage held the nut flush draw and a gutshot broadway draw to scoop.

Jordan Siegel Eliminated in 10th Place ($25,822)

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Dustin Dirksen opened to 30,000 as the first player to act and Jordan Siegel three-bet all in for 83,000 from the cutoff. Zack Freeman then four-bet to around 300,000 from the small blind and stood pat as Dirksen folded.

Siegel groaned as he considered breaking his hand with his kids sweating the action from the rail.

"Can you at least show my son your hand?" Siegel asked Freeman. "He probably won't even understand it."

Eventually Siegel stood pat with      , but it wasn't enough to beat the       of his opponent as he joined his son and daughter behind the ropes.

Having defended the small blind against a button raise by Ari Engel, Chad Eveslage check-called a bet prior to the final draw. Both discarded one card each and Eveslage then bet. Engel quickly called to see his opponent flash the    with a smirk on the face.

Freeman Scoops Dirksen

Zack Freeman raised to 27,000 for the second hand in a row and Dustin Dirksen called in the cutoff. They checked to the       river on which Freeman checked the third street in a row. Dirksen bet the pot and was called to reveal the      for a pair of fives and seven low.

Freeman turned over the      and Dirksen was expecting a chop, asking "you don't have a high?" before he realised the error, as he was in fact scooped.

Goindoo Folds Out Siegel; Hennigan Stays Afloat

Ryan Goindoo opened to 50,000 from the cutoff and table short stack Jordan Siegel defended out of the big blind.

Siegel checked on the     flop and Goindoo continued for 60,000. Siegel called. Siegel checked once more on the   turn and folded when Goindoo fired a bet of 150,000.

Earlier, John Hennigan managed to triple his stack in a 2-7 Triple Draw hand against Siegel and Dustin Dirksen and later check-jamming on Goindoo on the river of a Big O hand.

Paul Volpe Eliminated in 11th Place ($25,822)

Much to the surprise of everyone else at the table, Chad Eveslage selected No-Limit Hold'em instead of his usual Badeucey and then raised from under the gun. Paul Volpe called out of the big blind. On a flop of    , both invested 55,000 and that led to the   turn on which Volpe checked.

Eveslage bet 160,000 and Volpe called after short consideration, then checked the   on the river. With the superior stack, Eveslage pushed all-in and Volpe called within fewer than five seconds.

Eveslage tabled the    for a set and Volpe mucked the    to bow out in 11th place.

"For the first time in his life, he calls NLHE and hits a set in the first hand ..." Marco Johnson stated in table chat. Mike Gorodinsky chimed in "that's really scary, man ... really scary".

Day 7 of the 2023 World Series of Poker is in full swing inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

There have already been some highs and lows for the players competing. Dan Shak snagged the last $100,000 bounty prize in the Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions while 2022 Global Poker Index (GPI) female player of the year Cherish Andrews suffered a brutal bad beat to burst the money bubble in Event #12: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout.

Phil Hellmuth also has the chance to get his 17th WSOP bracelet, as he is one of the final 55 players in Event #11: $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack.

Hennigan Gets Short; Dirksen Pulls Away

Dustin Dirksen won two pots in Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw including a three-bet to 200,000 against John Hennigan, who folded and was shown the      by Dirksen.

Up next, it changed to the Limit variant and Dirksen raised from under the gun. Hennigan three-bet and Zack Freeman four-bet out of the big blind. Both Dirksen and Hennigan called and they each discarded one each. "That's a fair fight," Dirksen continued his very chatty behaviour of the last few minutes.

They checked again to the second draw and repeated discarding one each, checking again to the final draw on which they all took one new card. Freeman was the only one to check-call a bet by Dirksen, who won the pot with the      .

Eight-Seven Smooth for Volpe

In a heads-up pot, Paul Volpe drew two and Marco Johnson drew one before Volpe checked and Johnson bet 52,000. Volpe sat still and went in the tank before announcing all-in for about 250,000. Johnson then went in the tank before calling.

Volpe showed       for an eight-seven smooth and it was good to win the pot as his opponent mucked in defeat.

Picking up the action on fifth street, Scott Bohlman bet and was called by Marco Johnson, who then paired on sixth. Bohlman bet again to earn a call and bet seventh with a few chips behind. Johnson raised and Bohlman gasped a brief smile before he moved forward the chips, seemingly knowing that his fate had already been sealed.

Johnson announced a straight and showed his six to go with it, while Bohlman's seven-six couldn't earn a chop.

Dirksen Doubles to Chip Lead Through Goindoo

Dustin Dirksen raised to 30,000 in middle position and Ryan Goindoo three-bet to 95,000 in the big blind. Dirksen called.

Goindoo bet 200,000 on the flop of     and Dirksen quickly called. Goindoo then moved all in on the   turn as Dirksen snap-called off with 664,000.

Scott Bohlman opened to 25,000 in the hijack and James Obst called in the hijack before Paul Volpe three-bet to 115,000 on the button. Bohlman folded and Obst moved all in as Volpe called with a bigger stack.

Obst drew two and Volpe drew one on the first and second draws and Obst drew one as Volpe stood pat on the final draw.

Obst couldn't improve as he drew the ace and hit the rail in 13th place ahead of the two-table redraw.
